  1. Apologies in advance.

    'Twas the week before Christmas
        and all through the House
    Not a person was stirring,
        not even Neguse

    The Articles were laid
        on the dais with care
    In hopes that Pelosi
        soon would be there

    Representatives nestled
        all snug in their beds
    While visions of poll results
        danced in their heads

    And Cory in his kerchief
        and Mitch in his cap
    Had just settled in
        to the President's lap

When from my poor Twitter feed
        there arose such a clatter
    I ran to my phone
to see what was the matter

    When what from my screen
        there came stupid zingers
    From a bilious orange child-man
        with ten tiny fingers

    "I AM UNFAIRLY ACCUSED
        BY THE DO-NOTHING DEMS!
    "GO READ THE TRANSCRIPTS!
        IT'S NOT ME, IT'S THEM!!!1!!"

    But as I put down
        my hell-possessed phone
    I saw on my CSPAN
        I was not alone

To the House floor they came
        with a dignified bearing
    Two-hundred-plus Members
        and all, "AYE" cards carrying

And though the debate did change
        nobody's mind
    Both Articles passed,
        IMPEACHED! they did find

    But though we leave '19
        with Trump still a blight
    Merry Christmas to all,
and keep up the good fight!

  2. "Present"

    – I can't make up my mind

    – I want to vote, but I fear consequences

    – I would vote, but I don't like either choice

    – It's the wrong question

    – I have no opinion

    – I choose not to lead

    "Present."

    Tulsi Gabbard , 2019

    1. Gabbard was torn on this one. There was blatant abuse of power and obstruction of Congress, but Assad and Putin told her impeachment was a bad idea.

      1. There is speculation that Gabbard may try a 3rd party run for the Presidency. The Greens would never accept her as their nominee – she's too anti-Muslim and pro-dictator. But there may be some groups that would front her candidacy, hoping that she pulls more from Democrats than from Trumpists.

On the bright side, it would be nice to see R&R complain about somebody new for a change.

        1. I don’t know about that Pomposa. Didn’t the Green Party nominate Roseanne Barr back in 2008? They’re not as principled as you might like to think they are.

    1. Just goes to show, they are masters at projection.  "They wanted to impeach Trump since before he was elected".  In reality, they wanted to impeach Hillary since before she won 66 million votes, and the popular vote.

  3. Let's remember that Jason Crow was one of the seven "vulnerable" freshman Democrats from swing districts who signed an op-ed calling for Trump's impeachment.  Even now, most pundits are recognizing that moment as the inflection point towards impeachment.  Also, it's true that these members will be targeted by the GOP in the next election.  I just made another contribution to Jason Crow's campaign.  Will you join me?

  4. Former White House officials say they feared Putin influenced President Trump's views on Ukraine and the 2016 campaign

After meeting privately in July 2017 with Russian President Vladimir Putin at the Group of 20 summit in Hamburg, Trump grew more insistent that Ukraine worked to defeat him, according to multiple former officials familiar with his assertions.

The president’s intense resistance to the assessment of U.S. intelligence agencies that Russia systematically interfered in the 2016 campaign — and the blame he cast instead on a rival country — led many of his advisers to think that Putin himself helped spur the idea of Ukraine’s culpability, said the officials, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to describe internal discussions.

    Was there ever any doubt?
