Tomorrow is Election Day. Have you turned in your ballot?

Doing your duty in every single election, even the so-called “off years,” is still the most important way that individual citizens can affect change. It’s in lower profile school board and city hall races across Colorado that the future leaders in both parties often get their start. This year, Colorado voters have the opportunity to make a smart investment in the state’s future by passing Proposition CC.

If you’re still holding on to that ballot, it’s too late to mail it in! But you can still vote until 7pm tomorrow! Visit JustVoteColorado.org for all the information you need on ballot drop-off locations, vote centers, and even same-day voter registration if you’re not already registered. There’s no state easier and safer to vote in than Colorado. On Wednesday morning, don’t have any regrets.

Once that’s done, here are a few more great ways to take action for the week of November 4:

Great Education Colorado: Ballots and Beers at Prost Brewing – Election Day Eve!

Alianza NORCO: Thank You City Council / Gracias Al Ayuntamiento

Join us! This Tuesday we plan to go to the city council at 6pm for public comment. Our Fort Collins City Council passed a resolution in October to stand against inhumane treatment of immigrants at the border and in detention centers. The resolution won’t change policy, but is a symbolic show of support for our immigrant community and the greater struggle for immigrant rights. It is a way for them to speak their values and push for reforms to our national immigration policy, and an acknowledgment that cruelty anywhere affects all of us. Join us as we thank them for their show of empathy and courage, especially as hate-filled voices have risen against them!

Where: City of Fort Collins : City Hall, 300 Laporte Ave Bldg A, Fort Collins
When: Tuesday, November 5 at 6:00pm

These last few months have been tough for #reprorights. We’ve seen dangerous abortion bans being introduced across the country – and Colorado is no exception. Opponents of abortion access have begun gathering signatures to put an abortion ban on the 2020 ballot in Colorado and we need your help to fight back. Join Planned Parenthood Votes Colorado as we travel across Colorado for the Bans Off My Body Tour! Learn more about the proposed abortion ban & what you can do to help defeat it. Together, we can protect access to safe & legal abortion care in Colorado!

AFSC Bystander Intervention Training

Bystander Intervention Training gives participants the tools and confidence to intervene, safely and effectively, when they witness harassment of a vulnerable person in a public place. Bystander Intervention Training is an integral component of American Friends Service Committee’s Sanctuary Everywhere project, which equips people with skills to increase safety for communities targeted by law enforcement and by hate groups, especially those in Black, immigrant, LGBTQ and Muslim communities.

We the Corporations: A Conversation with Adam Winkler

Join the American Constitution Society Colorado Lawyers and Colorado Common Cause for a conversation with Professor Adam Winkler, author of We the Corporations: How American Businesses Won Their Civil Rights. We the Corporations chronicles the astonishing story of one of the most successful yet least well-known “civil rights movements” in American history. Although never oppressed like women and minorities, business corporations, too, have fought to win equal rights under the Constitution—and today they have nearly all the same rights as ordinary people.

Where: The Commons on Champa, 1245 Champa St, Denver
When: Thursday, November 7 at 5:30pm

NARAL Pro-Choice Colorado: Abortion Storytelling with NARAL Pro-Choice Colorado

Colorado Immigrant Rights Coalition: Home is Here, DACA Press Conference At the City of Denver

As we approach the final leg of the law suits to protect DACA at the US Supreme Court on November 12th, November 8th we will join legislators and leaders from the City, State and Federal level to announce their plans to keep DACA recipients and their families safe. In this important moment it is also critical that we understand what a positive verse a negative judgement on this case means and what it will mean for those who have receive DACA and those who never had the chance to apply in the first place. We must stand by the immigrants in our state and find ways to combat the xenophobia and negative media that has been pushed by this administration. Come and show you support an long side the City and County of Denver and send the message that Colorado loves and supports immigrants residents.

Saturday Postcard Event in SoBo Lucky’s Market Cafe

Every Saturday, we invite activists as well as political, municipal and school board candidates to come mingle and do something meaningful together: writing postcards! Right now we are writing GOTV postcards for the upcoming Virginia election. With 2020 elections coming up, we will likely be writing different postcards depending on what the most urgent needs are.
