  1. Michael Bennet doesn't appear to be impressing all of the Iowa media …

Cedar Rapids, IA The Gazette: "Moderation is moral ineptitude"

Self-declared moderates wring their hands saying they will vote for anyone but Trump, but are despairing of their choices. Meanwhile, candidates like Pete Buttigieg, Michael Bennet, and the morass of white men still peppering the field jockey to be the next Biden. Even Joe Biden is fighting to be the next Biden. But fighting to be the next Joe Biden is like fighting to be the next limp piece of white bread in the political toaster.

      1. Indeed.

Speaking of which, Senator "Blanche" Graham is setting the bar lower and lower. Now the good senator has moved the goalposts again. Axios (I think) is where I read this morning that he isn't going to believe his golfing buddies' crimes until Ukrainian president Zelensky joins in and says he felt pressured.

You can't make this shit up.

  2. It did not happen.
Anyone who said it did is lying.
Ok – what i meant was
Ok, it did happen, but it was not illegal.
If it was, the last guy did it.
    emails/ghazi/rosewater/foster/wwII/ etc

I keep looking ofr this in the Constitution, and cannot find it.
If only the president had lied about sex with someone not his wife.
Or had agreed to testify under oath.

  3. Ok folks, now the Trump toadies have officially jumped the shark:

In court hearing, Trump lawyer argues a sitting president would be immune from prosecution even if he were to shoot someone

The assertion came during an hour-long argument centered on President Trump’s effort to fend off a subpoena for his tax returns.

As a candidate in 2016, Trump said his support was so strong he could “stand in the middle of Fifth Avenue and shoot somebody” and not “lose any voters.”

  4. WOTD from Josh Marshal at TPM "Holy Crap, This is Big."

So, the two thumb-breakers from central casting were arrested by the FBI on their way to Austria to meet with Giuliani. The purpose of the trip was to set up an interview THE NEXT DAY by Hannity with Firtash, the billionaire oligarch.

Firtash, who is fighting extradition to the US, is apparently the person who provided Giuliani with the affidavit he's been waving around that claims that Shokin, the Ukrainian prosecutor, was fired because he was about to investigate the Bidens.  If you are following all the crazy twists and turns, Shokin was actually fired because he was not investigating corrupt officials.

The other wing of the disinformation campaign was to get the president of Ukraine, announce an investigation into the Biden's. Apparently, the announcement of an investigation itself was the quid-pro-quo desired by Trump. This would mainstream the disinformation into the gullible US press.

There is no actual evidence of wrongdoing by Biden.

  5. Ok, sure.  But,  . . .

Climate Change Will Cost Us Even More Than We Think

    https://www.nytimes.com/2019/10/23/opinion/climate-change-costs.html

One reason is obvious: Since climate scientists have been underestimating the rate of climate change and the severity of its effects, then economists will necessarily underestimate their costs.

But it’s worse than that. A set of assumptions and practices in economics has led economists both to underestimate the economic impact of many climate risks and to miss some of them entirely. That is a problem because, as the report notes, these “missing risks” could have “drastic and potentially catastrophic impacts on citizens, communities and companies.”

One problem involves the nature of risk in a climate-altered world. Right now, carbon dioxide is at its highest concentration in the atmosphere in three million years (and still climbing). The last time levels were this high, the world was about five degrees Fahrenheit warmer and sea level 32 to 65 feet higher. Humans have no experience weathering sustained conditions of this type.

    . . . that doesn’t mean it’s “existential”!!

    “ . . . (and still climbing).”

  6. Run Hillary run. Joe Biden has already concede that you are more qualified than him to be President. Run Hillary run! Use that white privilege like you have it.

      1. Hey MJ, what’s up with the new identity…..kwtree. You should claim BlueCat, after all she/he is dead as a hammer.

White privilege – a bastardization of language used by the radical left to create classes of victims.

In order for the radical left and Democrats to exist they must continue to generate groups of victims. Victims ideology blames someone, some thing, some place for their lack of being able to achieve their desires. Victims are easily manipulated, the Communist term is useful idiots.

White privilege is a dog whistle for all non whites to think their opportunity has been stolen from them because of their race. Race is the main emphasis of the Democrat party. No Democrat can utter 5 sentences without saying Trump is a racist.

So the speech by MLK focusing on the content of one’s character must be purged at all cost. If only there were more MLK’s instead of Al Sharpton’s.

The victim con plays well with the Democrat view of the world a a zero sum gain. If I make a dollar in my business, it’s because I stole it from a minority. Oil and gas resources must be destroyed because we will never never ever invent technology that limits environmental damage, so that’s that.

How much white privilege did you steal from a minority to get your teaching certificate? How much white privilege did Blowman steal from a minority to become an expert on hemp. How much white privilege did Duke steal from a minority to get a construction contract. How much white privilege did Hillary steal to get a slot at Wellesley college.

No white guilt here. I’ll let you and the other Pol Cats wallow in guilt all you want. I know that makes your head explode. I’ve never made an effort to keep any human down. I’ve hired black, brown, Native American, male, female, queer and straight. For me I want everyone to succeed and it doesn’t happen voting for Democrats.

Democrats = economic slavery and shared misery.

        1. For your information, asshole, my real name is Carlos and the name of my company was Escalante Builders. I sold it to a Hispanic family. You are an idiot.

            1. You are the one slinging around "white privilege" and "white guilt". Your rant is nonsense.

As your little T***pian happy house is blown apart by Hurricane Impeachment, I will sleep well at night knowing your anguish is real.

        2. “You don’t need to go take a Spanish class to speak to Latinos,” Edwards said. “He didn’t learn Ethiopian… or whatever language they speak in Ethiopia.”

“I’ll hire any [   ] or [   ] or [   ] to labor for me, that’s what white privilege is all about, make a buck off the backs of any of them lower-being you-knows.   Just don’t think I have to talk to them or acknowledge their humanity.  They know I’m the superior being here.  Besides, they all understand Mericun’ real good, don’t kid yourself.”

I’d say you got a lot of white-privilege on the brain there these days Pfruithole, but that’d be a lie since you ain’t got one.  Fuckhead.

          1. This "Pear" person is the functional equivalent of wingnut trope generator. S/he's pretty clearly just trolling, and quite successfully. I'd be surprised if s/he has any sincerely held beliefs on any subject at all.

            1. Wrong. Humans have only one resource, their labor. It is immoral for government to steal the labor from one individual who has earned it and give it to another who has not.

              1. Actually, Pear, rent is a great resource.  I get rent from my small farm though it has been more than 50 years since I personally toiled on it.  As inherited wealth goes, mine is modest.  But some, like Trump an d the Kochs, get billions merely by taking the trouble to be born.

                1. And speaking of rent being a great source of income, look at how much rent-free living Blue Cat enjoys occupying space inside of Roger's head….

              2. Is it less immoral for Capital to steal from labor and give it to the wealthy? Do corporations get a pass from you for rapacious treatment of workers?

        3. Blue Cat is fine as far as I know….though your repeated insistence that she is “dead” is downright creepy. Is there something you need to tell the class?

Fine, you’re an equal opportunity employer. Congratulations for following the law of the land.
Try a little experiment sometime- you and one of your black or Latino employees, someone about your age, and you, both drive a nice car through an affluent area. Make some small non-threatening mistake in driving, or perhaps have a brake light out. In front of a cop.

See who gets pulled over, who gets incarcerated, who pulls away from the encounter alive and free.  Or just try to rent an apartment in a upscale area, same income, same story, different skin. Then come back on here and post about how white privilege is a Democratic “victim con”.

          1. Propaganda. But it helps you spread the white privilege talking point. As a trained agent of the radical left, you do quite well with talking points.

          2. Poor BlueCat. She talked the talk right up until Trump won. Unlike typical liberals she quit the field in a cowardly way never to be heard from again. Unlike you and the other KOOKs who continue to fight, scrap, resist, she has turned in her left wing card and dissolved into the dirt. How can any of you have respect for a lefty so easily crushed. Perhaps she will use the last of her nine lives and return to the fight.

Bring back the BlueCat. Bring back the Blue Cat.

            1. As usual, you have no freaking idea what you’re talking about. Not that it’s ever slowed you down.

You should come to MADCO s meetup tomorrow. In person, you’re a genial guy, as I’ve seen. You can chat with your buddy, V, and I’ll be civil. My civility gets plenty of practice subbing in middle school. Who knows, maybe the Bluecat will join us.

              1. You may appreciate this, kiwi:

Every time Roger Edwards posts his nasty crap, the thought of voting for someone like Bernie Sanders or Elizabeth Warren becomes less and less unpalatable for me.

              2. I don’t see MADCOW has listed a meeting place. You are always civil for a Pol Cat. I’ll be sure to wear my MAGA hat just for effect. Would love to meet the BlueCat…..poor thing,

                1. Lowdown brewery, 800 Lincoln.  Fre e parking just north.

We haven't heard and we're about out of time.  Lowdown brewery was very good last time and I suggest we settle on it just to avoid cancellation by default.

If you wear the MAGA hat /, I'll Trump you with my "Nevertheless she pers isted shirt."

                  1. MAGA !!!!   (Moscow Agent Governing America).

Forget the Mueller report and just follow the money. In 2013, Eric Trump was publicly quoted: "we get all the money we need from Russia." How many hundreds of millions of dollars in loans does the Trump Organization have from Russia? Why did Trump grovel and bow before Putin in Helsinki in June, 2018? Why was the penthouse suite of the Trump Tower Moscow; worth millions; to be reserved as a freebie for Putin? How come Trump bailed out on the Kurds in Syria, leaving the settlement of disputes to Putin and Erdogan?

                    1. DOJ Friday night released that a criminal investigation has begun into spying on the Trump campaign. Who will be the first Demo rat to cut a deal: Comey, Brennen, Clapper, Hillary, McCabe, Page, Strzok, and others? See you…..wouldn’t want to be you.

                    2. Nice try, Pear. Close, but no cigar. My various sources; ranging from right to center to left; tell me there is no substance to the so-called criminal investigation into so-called spying on the Trump campaign. And it's obvious to most people that Attorney General Billy Barr is firmly affixed in Trump's hip pocket.

May we assume that you did not read the Mueller report?

            2. FYI — Blue Cat continues to have thoughtful and impassioned letters to the editor published in the Denver Post (and perhaps elsewhere, for all I know).  That they choose not to post here may be more a statement, as kwtree has noted, of the overall tenor of the discourse in the last few years.

  7. Oh Banger. You need to find an agent; you could easily replace the the beer guy who is billed as “The most interesting man in the world”. World traveler, multi lingual, natural resource expert, climatologists and now we can add deep state analyst. Please keep the Pols advise of the latest breaking news from Pierre Delecto.

      1. Some Polsters have created a norm on here: when one is out of arguments, attack the person with whom one disagrees. Attack again and again until you feel that have utterly destroyed the commenter’s character and credibility, mocked and ridiculed them until, at last you feel superior and safe. If they ignore your bait, or stop posting on Pols altogether, you have “won”.

That is the model Pear is following.  Pear has no logical answers to CHB’s assertions; he never cites any credible sources; therefore, he attempts to mock and belittle CHB. It’s the same model of “discourse”demonstrated daily by the chief executive of this country.

This can only be countered by practicing an alternative mode of discourse: questioning sources, providing alternative ways of viewing the same facts, acknowledging good intent. It’s frigging difficult.

  8. Pear has no logical answer because CHB has no logical assertions. Some how I’m supposed to take with certainty, posting from a anonymous avatar with unnamed sources with so-called political ideologies. How funny,

Pols seek to be relevant in the politics of the day but hide behind anonymity and avatars to spew hate for the simple reason you lost the election. Until you have the courage to use your real identity and real name your post are just as fake as your avatar. Ridicule and mockery is deserved.

  9. Pear: most people here, including you, conceal themselves behind an avatar. You allowed yourself to become revealed only during your campaign last year against Mike Coffman.

As for my sources, try these: on the right, Washington Examiner, Wall Street Journal, National Review, The Bulwark dot com; in the center, the Economist; on the left, Mother Jones and Hightower Lowdown.

What election are you referring to, re somebody losing, Pear? If you're referring to the 2016 presidential election, every Dem I know moved on a long time ago from 2016. It seems that only far right wingers want to keep bringing it up. My thought is that Trump has to run against Hillary and her e-mails again because he has nothing else of substance to run on.

    1. See, Pfruity’s a true MAGA believer — always has been. And, so now after three years of obvious ungreatness and failures and it’s completely apparent and undeniable that Ttump’s shit his bed every way to Sunday and in everything he’s done, not done, said, not said, or ever thought, Pfruity’s just incredibly pissed.

But, he’s not pissed at Ttump, or the fraud that Ttump’s always been, or even at his Pfruity self, and his simple ilk, for being so stupidly gulled and misled . . .

. . . Nope, he’s pissed at the ungulled, and the Democrats, because, you see, down Pfruity’s rabbit hole everything that’s at fault has always been the fault of them Democrats. It’s simple for him and his simple ways . . .

. . . Same as it ever was, same as it ever will be.

The more Ttump fails and falls, the angrier he’ll be at everyone but the guy who’s failed so predictably and so miserably.
