Face the State's Brad Jones Trashes McInnis

Noteworthy video clip of right-wing news site Face the State’s Brad Jones, from Colorado Inside Out earlier in the month–we don’t mind telling you we’re surprised by the candor:

Transcript:

McInnis can’t have a week where he’s not caught up tripping over something in his past, and the thing that Republicans need to realize I think overall is that it’s not as if we didn’t know, as, you know, Republican minded people, that McInnis had some skeletons in his closet. The party just ended up with him as the nominee here, and the–and the flip side of it is we’re not talking about John Hickenlooper.

Hickenlooper’s out there amassing cash, talking to voters, he’s not out there getting bad PR.  And it’s not like Hickenlooper’s running the best campaign in the world but by comparison it looks like it’s clockwork…

  1. Hickenlooper has been getting some bad PR at least on the colopols, as he has been more moderate with enviornmental decisions than some on here would like.

      1. Are you saying Western Slope TPs,few of which have ever gone to a caucus, assembly, 3rd CD or had a one on one conversation with Scott know him best?

Come on.  You know better.  The few newsletters that make their way to my desk from TP and 9/12 groups only have one mission: Elect anyone that has never, ever held office before no matter what office and mouths their fringe views.

            1. as I have noted before–but I think he does so at great expense and emerges somewhat damaged.  I think he will do surprisingly poor in the geography that is allegedly his base–Mesa and Garfield Counties among that.

          1. which was Western Slope TPs know Scott and that he is “Hated by those who know him best.”

And that is simply not true.

As for who comes in 1st or 2nd – I don’t think anyone will ultimately gives a hoot. Ken Salazar came in 2nd and went on to the US Senate and now is Secy of Interior. I don’t see any reference to his nomination in the news or anywhere else. But then selective memory is a convenient tool as a diversion.

            1. You know as well as I do that Scott has to roll the dice and see whether the teabaggers are a “movement,” a “phenomenon,” or simply a “curiosity.”

I personally feel that they are the latter.  But whatever they are, they don’t like Scott much.

Write them off either at your own peril (in the case of the Primary) or your own success (in the case of the General).

You’re a wise woman.  You know damned well that you can’t do both.  Scott either appeals to the extremists who drive primaries, or the middle who drives generals.  I wouldn’t want to be in your shoes.

              1. I think the big change may be that control has moved from the party leaders back out to the individuals. We had that in ’08 also when Obama beat Clinton. As such we may be seeing a cultural change.

If so, then Scott is in a world of hurt.

    1. the same way they have anointed Jane Norton. But you don’t have to take it lying down, Beej! You should do everything you can to undermine McInnis in the eyes of conservative voters. He’s sure to change his position to try to win your vote …

      1. Somebody said the United Nations, or US Chamber of Commerce, or some such, has endorsed Norton.  That race is so over in its sequels.

    2. Speaking of, where has Maes even been the last week or so?  Haven’t seen a single update on the guy.  Has he been spending this whole large amount of time raising money for an add?

  2. Maes has no chance on Aug 10. Let me tell you why….

Except for Weld and El Paso Counties (size matters) all of the other larger counties have mail ballots.  Maes has absolutely NO name recognition whatsoever….

This is a huge advantage for McInnis…that is because of the means of how we vote this August. For good or bad, people will vote for McInnis because at the very, very least…they have heard of him.

The same might go for Romanoff.

    1. The polls show that Romanoff has really bad name ID. Outside of activist Democrats, most voters don’t even know who he is. You’d think his name ID would be a little better because of his time in the House, but it just goes to show how important TV ads have become; if you’re not on TV, you’re unknown.
