We don’t normally draw attention to our own social media content, but the Tweet you can see above from Friday pointing to our post on new domains registered by Curtis Hubbard, a close political ally of Democratic presidential candidate John Hickenlooper, apparently getting ready for Hickenlooper to make the long-desired switch from the presidential race to taking on Sen. Cory Gardner in Colorado’s 2020 marquee U.S. Senate race obliges us to make an exception.

Hubbard was quick to note when asked that he registered the domains “of his own accord,” but that didn’t stop the potential word that Hickenlooper would change races from rapidly going viral–in our case resulting in the above tweet being Retweeted over 1,700 times and liked by a record (for us) over 7,700 Twitter users. In addition almost 800 replies to our Tweet overwhelmingly express joy at Hickenlooper making such a move, many offering to donate money to Hick’s Senate campaign as soon as there’s a place to do it.

With so many across the nation watching to see what Hickenlooper’s next move will be, we figured news of these domains would provoke some interest. The explosion of positive support we saw on Friday tells us that Hickenlooper made enough of a positive impression in his longshot presidential run to remain a viable, even more desirable Senate contender for Colorado. If Hickenlooper hadn’t run for president, would there be thousands of people nationwide lining up to cheer him on to run for Senate?

One door closes, another opens.

There are 10 other people running for Senate. I’d vote for almost any of them before I’d vote for Frackenlooper. Of course, should he become the Dem nominee, I’d color in the arrow by his name on my ballot. Reluctantly.

I hope that day never comes.

  I want to get oust Cory Gardner from caving to the whims of the Trump-ites. I've now seen 5 of those running in person, and two others online. If elected, all would be "not Cory" — and that would be a good thing.
  
  However, if Hickenlooper showing up as a 1%'er and lacking donations ought to drop out of the race for President, I'd suggest the same could be urged for some running for Senate. When does the winnowing begin?

  If I were appointing the senator, I'd name Alice Madden. But it's an elective office and I'd join Madco in happily voting for Hickenlooper.

The list above should also include Senator Angela Williams, representing SD33. Prior to being elected Senator, Williams served in the House for 6 years, including as Majority caucus chair and on the Business and Technology Committee. She is known as a liaison for private and public partnerships.

Anyone hanging your hopes on Hick is making a mistake. Mr. Popularity isn't nearly as popular as he used to be and he really doesn't want the job. His much vaunted invincibility is bogus. Remember his competition for governor?

This election is not going to be won by a Democratic candidate that rails against "socialism" and is an active oil and gas apologist. Cory has that territory covered.

Michael Bennet needs a progressive colleague to help him progress toward representing all the people in Colo…not just the rich ones.
