A Zero-Sum Game: Hurt Bill Halter = Help Blanche Lincoln

I think we can all agree that Bill Halter is Blanche Lincoln’s only viable challenger in the Arkansas Senate Democratic primary:

Lt. Gov. Bill Halter, a Democratic primary challenger trying to oust Arkansas Sen. Blanche Lincoln, raised nearly twice as much money as she did in April, campaign finance reports released Thursday showed.

Politics is a zero-sum game; anything that hurts Bill Halter helps Blanche Lincoln. Pure and Simple.

I think we can all agree that Bill Halter is running to the left of Blanche Lincoln:

Halter … was immediately embraced by groups on the left. Labor unions … including the Service Employees International Union and the Communication Workers of America, have been airing radio and television ads around the state to help his bid.

The general election is decided by independent voters. Independents prefer the centrist over the ideologue and Blanche, unlike Halter, can credibly tack center-right if needed.
