“Scrubbing floors and emptying bedpans has as much dignity as the Presidency.”

Pitchers & Catchers are in camp.
And anyone with an invite but not a roster guarantee.
And most of the coaching staff.
I know – nothing matters until September. Although – the past few summers talented teams emerged in July and August and got to October.
game on.
And because my friends are on strike and it’s Black History Month – special call out to Curt Flood who deserves a Presidential Medal of Freedom and a special exhibit in the Hall*.
*same for Matt Williams.
I'm with you, MADCO. Summers are made for evenings on the patio, cold beverage in hand, listening to baseball on the radio.
Joe Scarborough was super supportive of Michael Bennet running for president today on his show and in a Washington Post op-ed titled "Michael Bennet could be the answer to the question every Democrat is asking" (who can beat Donald Trump, not who is Michael Bennet).
He believes that Bennet could fill the “wide open middle lane” not yet taken by potential candidates like Joe Biden, and appeal to Dems, GOP and Independents.
Discuss….

I think he's right, especially about appealing to the GOP. As Chuck Schumer noted in 2016, "For every blue-collar Democrat we lose in western Pennsylvania, we will pick up two moderate Republicans in the suburbs in Philadelphia, and you can repeat that in Ohio and Illinois and Wisconsin."
This is a winning path for the Democrats. Joe has pegged it.
Who are you, and what have you done with Sudafed?
I see what you did there.
Very funny.
I saw it and wrote a diary last night (posted this morning). I think the reality based numbers say that he would not be as strong a candidate as even Joe Biden. Handicap his incumbent advantage of about +2% and he actually did not do as well as H. Clinton in 2016.
Well, one thing about Bennet running for POTUS; it would blow Zappy's whiny SFL meme.
I doubt that.
Well, Bennet is a lot younger than Biden. Although Beto is being labeled a centrist – which is fine with me although those calling him that mean it as an insult.
But what about Hick? I have news for everyone. There aren’t enough centrist Democrats to sustain more than one or two candidates.
I think the Democratic convention only selects one candidate. The vice president selection soaks up a second person.
The Presidential candidate will succeed only if they appeal to a majority interest within in the Party. Typically the Vice is chosen to expand the ticket's appeal to a broader coalition that goes beyond the majority interest.
Based on that, I don't think a conservative Dem can win the convention. But, the "right" conservative might be selected as Vice. Unless, the vice is needed to shore up support from a critical interest group.
We do need to define what conservative means, something that the ex-republicans on this site have problems doing.
Beto couldn't win his home state.
President's win their home state.
Karen McDougal, Trump's Playboy bunny longtime mistress was paid $150,000 by Michael Cohen prior to the election as part of a catch and kill effort by AMI Publications (including the National Enquirer) to keep the story quiet. She was also promised favorable media attention. Lo and behold, there she was gracing the cover of Men's Journal in September, 2018 along with a page with another picture and a discussion of her "fitness tips". It was probably the first time that Men's Journal had a woman on their cover, and she had no qualifications as a fitness expert. Hmm…
Sure enough, AMI and David Pecker also own Men's Journal and used it to continue helping Pecker's friend, Donald Trump. Funny that AMI signed a non-prosecution agreement with the SDNY for its activities in the 2016 campaign. Must have been signed right after the Men's Journal cover story on McDougal.
I have loved Men's Journal for many years. Now, after compromising their journalistic principles, I can't read any of their stories without wondering who they are shilling for. That really pisses me off. Real reporters today are finding that AMI has probably violated the non-prosecution agreement with SDNY and may face criminal (read: prison time) exposure. Lock them up!
Is Karen McDougal related in anyway to James McDougal of '90's Whitewater fame? Just wondering. It is a small world.
Well, we sent $50 to Klobuchar yesterday. You go, girl!
No shame in VP.
I sent $ to Mark Kelly.
Kelly is a good man. Maybe I'll send him a few bucks
