or perhaps you were speaking of the in-house versions? (I kid, I got it). That is always a treat, crab cakes, when back in Babylon-East. The cuisine around there in general–really EVERYTHING back there–is a little bit more diverse than the Western Slope.
Such variety, in all things (especially people), is what I miss the most living here.
Me, I’m always in the hotel circuit when I am back there so interact with travelers and such, but it is fun how many nations and types of folks you run into. And some of the sidewalk conversations you pick up walking around, or sitting at a cafe, are really interesting.
I always learn a thing or two pretending to read a paper while in those parts.
…just the dine-in option. It’s pretty much a family tradition that I get taken there whilst visiting. Cakes are OK, but I much prefer my crabs streamed–after catching them with the old chicken neck on a string trick.
That and some Maryland pit beef–and Tasty Kakes. Mmmmmm!
