“Let’s say I’m not a multimillionaire. Let’s say that I’m an illegal alien — or better yet…let’s say that I’m a Yemeni terrorist. I’m being held by authorities. They would all get the same treatments and procedures and medicines that I received. Everybody in the same circumstance in Hawaii who had had the same thing happen to them would have gotten the same identical stuff that I got: The ambulance ride, the testing, the medicines, the attention from the doctors. The only difference is that I paid for it. The only difference is, I don’t expect or ask for freebies. And all of a sudden I’m the bad guy, according to all these liberals in the media. I’m the bad guy. I’m insensitive. I’m out of touch.”

Pols would have had its first diary of controversy…ahem a potential question regarding a campaign violation
Read more: http://www.denverpost.com/ci_1…
Faced with real data, questions and facts….Hickenlooper will take over a week to decide not to get into the race.
Could you explain to me how that would be a campaign violation?
and therefore if this was a GOP candidate decision, there would be raging posts claiming it could.
…someone like me would come along and point it it is not.
Hudson can own any damned thing he wants. The minute he signs it over to Hick, it becomes an in-kind contribution. At that time, it will need to be reported as such. For now, as long as Hudson owns the domains, it’s not a contribution.
Simple explanation for Libby. I own my car. If I gave it to Hick, it would become a contribution. If not, it’s still mine. See?
then it would be a legit in-kind…
Anyone know if Hick can funnel all his unlimited mayoral campaign cash into the governors race?
Is registered to an LLC.
LLCs can make campaign contributions. See CRS 1-45-103.7
And what if the LLC were to sell the domains in question to the campaign? Then it’s not a contribution, it’s an expense.
Next meaningless point, Libby?
He asserts he’ll personally give it to him in the quote, now we find out it’s owned by an LLC.
This could get complicated for Hudson, I hope he chooses to recommend to those that control the LLC that they sell the domains to Hickenlooper2010.
LLCs are treated the same as people in the statutes.
I mean, it’s Libby, fergodsakes.
There are people who register domain names to preempt othersand then force the legitimate users to pay outrageous sums for them. Registering them only costs a few bucks and that way, you can give them to the campaign…at cost, if anybody is worried about it…and avoid the ripoff.
I’ve already registered LibertadforGovernor and he’s gonna have to pay me big time to get it back! 😉
because only an uninformed ejit would think this is a campaign violation. The difference between you and them is that they actually do their homework before they post.
so old school.
than some of the other names I was seriously considering. 🙂
just because you’re not paranoid doesn’t mean they’re not watching you, Rush
(Channelling some Libertad this morning, except that this is ON topic:)
“YouTube is watching,” he told Harris. “You’re the Republican consultant. One of the best in the country. Tell me what the Republican party has done for this country in the last ten to 20 years.”
Harris stayed silent.
“Thank you,” Matthews said to his recurring GOP guest as he closed the segment. “We’ll have you back with the answer.”
Function: adjective
Etymology: New Latin, literally, to the person
Date: 1598
1 : appealing to feelings or prejudices rather than intellect
2 : marked by or being an attack on an opponent’s character rather than by an answer to the contentions made
http://www.merriam-webster.com…
It’s a direct attack. Matthews has no credibility, and has made himself out to be a complete fool.
I won’t vouch for Matthews – I don’t watch TV. 57 channels and nothing on, as the boss says.
But the original post was related to this exchange:
Your response was to attack Matthews. That’s pretty much the definition of ad hominem:
It’s ad hominem.
Matthews can kiss my ass. He sucks, IMO.
Also, by your definition, every Friday open thread is ad hominem with the Rush quote, right?
It’s not a personal attack to display direct quotes from someone (unless they’re made up, which wouldn’t necessarily be ad hominem, but I digress.)
Although they did remove them and apologize..
Most of the quotes are right on. You pinko hippie commie bastards just don’t like them.
Time to return to the Motherland, comrades!
If only LB knew the horrible truth, that we’re really liberals!
as a pinko commie bastard, I love the Limbaugh quotes (keep ’em coming ‘pols!).
I don’t have to sit through his nauseating show and I still get a taste of just how out of touch with reality the drug-addled, self-deafening, arrogant, fat-assed, holier-than-thou, thrice divorced/family values, windbag is.
THAT’s a varsity ad hominem attack. Good work!
The topic was Rush Limbaugh’s quotes and their presence on this website. I stated my sincere appreciation their presence. Furthermore, my characterization of “el-Rushbo” (he might want to be careful with that nic-name lest Tom Tancredo try to deport his fat ass, but I digress) is spot on.
He is drug-addled which caused his self-inflicted deafness; he is arrogant (I can beat anyone with half my brain tied behind my back); he is fat assed (although his girth is not limited to his ample ass); he is “holier than thou” as witnessed by his attack on Al Gore’s son’s DUI–while he himself was addicted to “hilbilly heroin” (I only regret now that I neglected to call him a hypocrite, a term that is appropriate as well now that I think of it); he’s certainly been married and divorced three times as evidenced by court records yet he claims to be an ardent defender of what is commonly referred to as “family values” these days. I suppose the term windbag is debatable, but I’m fairly certain that were a poll to be conducted, the majority of Americans would agree that he is, in fact, a windbag.
In short, I stand by my on-topic, retort to your observation.
He didn’t attack Gore’s son. He told people to lay off him and hope that he could recover.
Did you know that?
He’s clean, and has lost almost 90 lbs. That doesn’t fit in with the “fat” “drug-addled” thing, does it?
He’s pompous, but he’s dead on most of the time.
It’s from Webster’s.
And more to the point, though Matthews may be an ass (along with most other TV pundits), he made a point.
Or rather, Harris made a point.
And if Rush says something and we attack him for what he said, that’s not ad hominem.
Maybe there’s a reason Matthews show is watched by fewer people than “The Deuce”.
Because he has set up gag interviews with very powerful Republicans like “Harris”.
Harris WHO?
Never heard of him. And I’m a HUGE POWER BROKER within the party.
🙂
Is it too early to start drinking?
I’m not a mulit-millionaire, let’s say I’m some hick from the back hills of Kentucky who was caught using Oxy-Cotyn on a prescription written for someone else. That hick would not have had to pay a fine or spend on night in jail either. I got the exact same treatment that that hick from Kentucky would have gotten.”—the fantasy world that is Rush Limbaugh
What a stupid thing to say. Limbaugh has always been a bad guy.
I’m glad Rush liked it. Basically in Hawaii every resident has medical insurance through HSMA. It’s a public/provate system that insures everyone.
I get so confused when we hear the Limbaugh crowd carrying on about how radical Obama is and how we have to fight against the Dem’s socialist, government run health care plan. What plan are they talking about? The Senate’s gift to private insurers?
And if Obama is so radical how come he’s forever saying he’s fine with no public option, even claiming he never campaigned on any such thing? What, in fact, is going on that could possibly be called any more socialist or radical than DC business as usual? Palin is still going on about death panels in a government run health care plan that isn’t even being seriously contemplated.
Are she and the tea partiers completely divorced from reality or are they the world’s most brazen liars, counting on the ignorance of the masses to carry the day? My guess? Some one, some the other.
I vote for the latter.
No use of Hawaii’s crappy system.
At least that’s what I hear.
even assuming that’s true and Rush doesn’t have great insurance.
http://the.honoluluadvertiser….
http://www.businessweek.com/bw…
Did they hire the staff and order the equipment as they were transporting his fat ass to the hospital?
Hawaii’s “crappy system” was in place before his sorry ass went their on vacation. It didn’t just magically appear when he and his money stepped off of the plane and he got a fart crossways and decided he needed medical care…

of your own, why not just plagiarize? Aren’t you afraid someone might stick a gun in your face for stealing their work, Liberloon?
Also, why are ‘Libertarians’ only liberatarian on Democratic issues (no gov’t run healthcare, public schools, gun control, etc) and not Republican issues (abortion, TSA Wiretaps, gay marriage)? I’m sick of Tea-Party types using the Liberatarian label because the Republican moniker is too tainted.
But the only thing this list is missing is a subject header reading FWD: FWD: FWD: FWD: FWD: FWD: FWD: YOUR RIGHTS!!!!!!!
From: Uncle Billy Bob
Oh, and there’d probably be a racist cartoon of President Obama at the bottom, which Uncle Billy Bob will vehemently deny is in any way related to race.
If you’re going to argue for gun rights, mind doing it in a way that doesn’t make gun owners look like unoriginal lunatics?
I criticize you for being unoriginal and dull, so you post someone else’s work in response. I’m beginning to see why making fun of you is a meme around here.
Makes his little peepee hard.
And bored. And did I mention lonely?
Newt Gingrich, that most liberal of liberal democrats, acknowledged the conservative republican racist problem just yesterday when talking about Michael Steele:
“Michael Steele makes a number of old-time Republicans very nervous. He comes out of a different background. He’s African-American. But I think he’s pretty close to what we need. He’s different, he’s gutsy and he’s going to make a number of Republicans mad.” Newt Gingrich
Because they haven’t come to my house yet, far as I know. No calls from the FBI or ATF. I’m feeling pretty damn secure in my gun ownership.
When are you going to get over your fears? You’re so damn afraid of everything. Terrorists, climate bills, phantom bogeymen taking your guns. Grow up and stop being so damn paranoid.
it’s the fetishizing of guns that makes gun nuts come off like ejits. That and the delusion that they stand as a bulwark against the United States military.
It;s those special anti-matter rounds I use. 😉
you mean hot bikini models holding tricked-out AR-15’s while leaning over a gleaming Harley? that’s really the issue here. Libertad is worried the gov is going take away his girlfriend.
nice word by the way
Maybe later I’ll challenge Caldera to a duel.
In Colorado plenty of us labor lovin, clean air breathin, equality supporting liberals drive pickups, own tools, watch sports, drink PBR and regular coffee and, wait for it, own lots of guns.
Glad to see that my affection for PBR, guns, and football doesn’t preclude me from having rational thoughts (i.e. being Republican post 1968)
right down to the pickup, a basement full of tools including a shopsmith, a widescreen tv hard-wired to the NFL, a fridge full of (union-made) PBR. and I drink my coffee black. I also own a bunch of guns rannging from my Glock 9 to a classic M1-Garand and an M-1 carbine. I once proposed merging the National Rifle Association with the ACLU, with the motto “A civil liberties lobby that they can’t fuck with!”
….but I’ve downsized since my niece started coming to my house. I’m down to my Grandfather’s beuatiful vintage .38.
I would love a shootin’ match with all the various Polsters!
just north of DIA, y’all are on. Just had my Winchester 1897 out there a couple of weekends ago….Awesome place
I was going to suggest the Silver Bullet Shooting Range in Wheat Ridge, since it’s own by a Ron Paul dude. That way the Conservative types can feel more relaxed as they get pwn’d on on the range.
http://www.silverbulletshootin…
Pols, is there room in the budget for a sponsor event?
But I used to own 2 semi-automatic paint-ball games and spent most Saturdays shooting other people. I was pretty good after awhile.
Whenever some military guys showed up (including rangers once) we would generally cream them. They are trained that you don’t get shot – ever. We took calculated risks.
State Labor Boss Mares admits to having run to ground $1.1 billion in State (Taxpayer) UI cash. Labor Bosses forecast the need to now borrow AIG-style HUNDREDS of MILLIONS more from federal taxpayers to stay afloat.
The state must borrow hundreds of millions from Uncle Sam to keep its unemployment-insurance fund afloat.
Read more: http://www.denverpost.com/ci_1…
Does an increased need for borrowing mean increased unemployment is coming – I thought the trillion $ ARRA-TARP thingy saved and created jobs?
Time to pack up and leave Communist Colorado for the promised land where unemployment taxes will be lower, right?
Texas? umm…no
Florida! umm…no
Surely Mississippi! umm…no
North Dakota, here we come!

…and I’m immune to the cold, per my years living in Bismarck.
But not yet…
The wind on the other hand…
And I tend to get bored of the flat.
I just got an email from Karen Stockley, Democratic candidate for HD 49:
It looks like HD 49 will be in play for the first time in my memory. I think Stockley’s number from last quarter (11 weeks) is more than any Democrat has raised for the entire race in HD 49.
From his blog, Steam Powered Opinions, and totally relevant to the discussion in the Ritter thread yesterday about the role of progressives in Colorado politics:
And this is not coming from some centrist Dem, Steve is just as liberal, if not moreso, than many of the lefties in the Colorado blogosphere. He’s just trying to think about it strategically. There’s nothing wrong with tempering your fervor with a little thoughtful planning, IMO.
Anyway, it’s a really good post. Highly recommended for frustrated politicos who are starting to let their anger/disappointment cloud their better judgment.
must be just another corporatist DINO. Myerson too.
http://www.washingtonpost.com/…
Myerson’s piece is correct on the history and asks the right questions.
But when he laments “the absence of a vibrant left movement.” he fails to make the distinction between “vibrant” as in meaningful and productive even while outside the mainstream and shrill and ideologically blinded as in marginalized and unproductive to th epoint of meaninglessness.
And no, Harold, Maddow and Olberman cannot be the Beck counterparts to “build a movement.” They are entertainers and they are corporatists (about to be owned by Comcast/NBC), and while the latter is sometimes forgivable on the Left, the latter is death.
Rather what we need is the modern CГ©sar ChГЎvez.

People like free shit. Its a free market concept. If you allow people free shit, it allows them to spend their money on other things like LED TVs and suck off the govt tit for food stamps.
Don’t rage on me that I enjoy the suffering of others.
I’m sure you cried every night when the bailed-out bank executives had their multi-million taxpayer paid bonuses reduced.
The forced acquisition of Wachovia was at a decent price. I’m still concerned about their real estate exposure.
A forced deal with the devil…when your regulator suggests it you must comply, you comply…you know kinda like forced union dues.
The ones that knew the score have paid back the notes and avoided Paymaster Obama.
So yeah, I didn’t like the forced mergers. The survivors are good operators, but Citi is having issues. That’s life in Obamaland, we deal with it for now.
The Wachovia-Wells Fargo merger was announced and completed during the Bush administration.
https://www.wellsfargo.com/pre…
I don’t recall Bush having a Paymaster.
who supped from taxpaper troughs should be limited by law to the minimum wage. Bill gates earned his $50 billion by making my life easier. All AIG gave me was heartburn and the job of trying to explain to my grandkids why stealing $50 bucks from a liquor store is a felony while stealing $500 billion from the taxpayers is considered economic stimulus.
If you would like to determine if YOU might be eligible for food assistance, go to this website: http://www.snap-step1.usda.gov…
And if you’d like to compare the income and resource guidelines for food assistance to your own circumstances, go to this website and scroll down to see the resource and income limits: http://www.cdhs.state.co.us/fa…
A household is limited to $2,000 in total resources, with few exclusions. And the income limits are also quite severe.
I worked in this program more than 20 years ago. The limits have not increased much – I recall that the household resource limit was $1500 at that time.
I don’t expect to change your mind, ‘tad, but thought there might be others reading this who’d like to know the facts.
