If I’m not mistaken, if Rep. Perlmutter got in he would have to resign from Congress, which would force a special election in CD-7. That’s probably the messiest since it has national implications and not just like ones (like Hick jumping in would create).
All that would happen if Romanoff got in would be a suspension of his Senate campaign, and he could then refund his campaign contributions with the hope that his contributors would then return that money to his gubernatorial campaign.
Just like Beauprez stayed in his seat while running for Governor in 2006.
It’s easy to forget that, before he was a bumbling excuse for a gubernatorial candidate, he was a Congressman.
