  •
  • by: Colorado Pols

Speaker of the House Terrance Carroll announced today that he has named term-limited Rep. Liane “Buffie” McFadyen as Speaker Pro Tempore, replacing no-longer-a-Democrat Rep. Kathleen Curry.

Full press release follows.

Speaker of the House Terrance Carroll today announced several changes to the House Majority leadership roster.

State Representative Liane “Buffie” McFadyen from Pueblo West will become Speaker Pro Tempore.  Rep. McFadyen is in her final of eight years in the House, during which time she has chaired the Transportation & Energy Committee, been recognized as a national expert on prisons, and has memorized the mascot of most every high school in the state.  She grew up near Buffalo, New York, hence her nickname, and holds both an undergraduate and graduate degree from Adams State College in Alamosa, Colorado.

The Agriculture, Livestock and Natural Resources Committee will be chaired by the current Vice-Chair, Representative Randy Fischer of Fort Collins.  Rep. Fischer has an engineering background with degrees in Natural Resources Management and in Civil Engineering, both from CSU.  For over 20 years, Rep. Fischer worked on the reclamation and remediation of abandoned mine sites throughout the U.S. http://cohousedems.typepad.com…

Representative Sal Pace of Pueblo will be the Vice Chair of the Ag Committee.  A graduate of Fort Lewis College, Rep. Pace has a strong understanding of water and agriculture issues.

“This team will work for ranchers and farmers as well as for every water user in the state.  That means that every Coloradan has a stronger voice, thanks to this team,” said Speaker Carroll.

Rep. Kathleen Curry will remain on both the Agriculture Committee and the Appropriations Committee.
