For those of you out there who might consider calling yourselves patriotic, I have one question for you: Have you ever served in the military? If not, don’t even think of pretending like you give a shit about the U.S. of A. At least, not in Congressman Mike Coffman’s book.
In his recent Phaseline-Written hit piece attacking Josh Penry and people who care about private property rights, Congressman “turn your head and Coff-man” reminds us why Tom Tancredo never endorsed him.
Captain America Congressman Coffman, Congressman McInnis and the rest of their cabal were buried in an avalanche of outrage in this weekend’s Colorado Statesman:

It seems like ancient history, but journey with me now back to March 28, 2003, the day the Denver Post admonished Mike Coffman for throwing a temper tantrum and refusing to speak on the same stage as Tom Tancredo — because he didn’t serve in the military. A few excerpts from the Post editorial:
EDITORIAL Coffman not patriotism’s cop
28 March 2003
Denver PostRegardless of how Coffman characterizes it, his unwillingness to share a stage with Tancredo smacks of political posturing. While he and Tancredo are both Republicans, they live in the same congressional district. Last year, Coffman berated Tancredo for breaking a pledge to serve only three terms, leading political insiders to believe that Coffman may try to unseat Tancredo in 2002’s GOP primary.
Coffman’s habit of trying to make himself the arbiter of patriotism has grown old. On Monday, using official state of Colorado stationery for a press release, he demanded that war opponents stop protesting. So an elected official used his taxpayer- funded office to tell Americans to stop exercising their First Amendment rights.
Even Coloradans who support the war should ask what browbeating protesters has to do with running the state’s treasury.
Bottom line: Mike Coffman has a history of political posturing when it comes to military issues and he has some nerve sticking his big nose (pun intended) in the current debate over whether or not Scott McInnis should be allowed to politicize Pinon Canyon the federal government should condemn private ranches to expand a military training area.
