This morning, news broke that Republican Speaker of the House Paul Ryan is not running for re-election.
What does this mean for our race? This means that Republicans expect a flood of retirements and accept the likelihood of losing the House. It means Republican held seats like Colorado’s 4th Congressional District will be in play, and Republicans will have to spend money they hadn’t planned on spending.
It means Democrats must compete everywhere. And this is why I am running the strongest campaign to take back this district. We must stand up for working families, for economic fairness, for accessible health care for all, and for the rule of law. My father, a 30 year Navy veteran, taught me my fundamental public service values – and I intend to take them to Congress.
