Now that’s efficiency!
You want to be on top of something if you are quoted, or something is being said about you in the media. Its also good from time to time just to see what the general public perception is of you.
They even have firms that do that. If you remember back it’s why Hazel O’Leary got in so much trouble – hiring a PR firm to scour for her name in any article about her every day of the week (pre google).

that Congressman Polis has a staffer do those daily Google searches, like O’Leary had someone else doing searches for her ? I’d bet a dollar that a staffer did the searching and the screen shot originated on someone else’s monitor, and was forwarded to JP.
But even if he did them his own darn self, that’s not necessarily a sign of vanity: it just shows that he’s protecting his brand.
