As we’ve done in other election years, we regularly poll our readers on various races to gauge changing perceptions. These obviously aren’t scientific polls, but they do help to show how the perception of various candidates are changing. We’ll conduct these polls each month and then show the results to see how the winds are shifting.
As always, please vote based on what you think will happen, not on who you would vote for or which candidate you support personally. Think of it this way: If you had to bet the deed to your house, who would you pick?

I believe she will make a compelling argument to the voters though, and in a year that may end being a good year for the GOP, Kennedy could be the lone bright spot for Democrats.
She’s managed state finances well in difficult times. If she returns in 2010, maybe she’s the D standard-bearer for governor in 2014. But first things first, let’s re-up the lady now.
Ken Salazar might have a claim staked on the Governor’s office in ’14…
from the Administration during his second term to run for Governor? (Provided he serves a second term.)
it isn’t unusual for folks to start leaving in the second terms of Presidents to pursue their own offices (Mitch Daniels comes to mind).
but that is someone I despise so much that I’d be tempted to work for a GOP candidate.
but he remains one of, if not the, most formidible democrat(s) in the state of Colorado.
far too oily personally and nothing short of a snake for something he did to someone I know and leave it at that.
As for formidable–that may be, but I would work hard to prevent him from being elected Governor.
but if what he may have done to someone you know involved cows, alcohol, water rights, or sex – or some combination of these- can’t we all just get along?
..that has no racial implications at all, nope, none at all.
Would “swarthy” have been more precise?
sorry if it came across as such.
What I mean by “oily” is overly slick, disingenuous, dishonest, etc.
I’m afraid I don’t enough about Ament or Stapleton to know if they’ll be able to successfully defeat Kennedy. I suspect that’s their main problem and why they probably won’t.
Walker Stapleton is George (walker) Bush’s cousin and the Grandson(?maybe great) of Denver’s KKK affiliated mayor of the 30’s.
Other than that he lives off some property investments.
like Doug Bruce
Ok, my vote is for Cary but my
votesupport in the GOP primary is for MAH!I know his name has disappeared from the Big Line but I must have missed MAH’s withdrawal from the Treasurer’s race.
When did that happen? Did he give any reason? Was it Shermanesque?
It was just a rumor. Once Ament and Stapleton hopped on, Ali didn’t want to rock the GOP boat.
😉
I think you’re just flat out wrong on TABOR, but you are one of my all-time favorite Colorado political personalities.
I look forward to your next campaign, whenever that will be.
We won’t always agree, but what we share in common is a mutual love and respect for each other, as well as a desire to better our good State – that’s ‘healthy’ partisanship
I got a heckuva pickax!
Wouldn’t a heckuva bucket be more useful?
Let the ship sink
We’ll re-fortify on the iceberg…
and just drift on the open ocean, wherever the currents take them.
They continually lose mass until they are consumed by the ocean.
You go ahead and “re-fortify” with your heckuva pickax. Leave the governing to us.
And you can’t make the play easily to voters she managed the state well in this economy. Only the 3% that pay close attention will here that, the rest will here Kennedy=Bad Colorado Economic Management
People aren’t going to vote for the Republican just because. They’re going to need to hear a compelling argument from either Stapleton or Ament. Kennedy is charismatic, she’s done a good job, and she will be able to raise enough money to run an effective campaign.
That, coupled with incumbency, put her at the advantage. Assuming the economy hasn’t gotten any worse between now and November, I doubt voters will blame Kennedy for the state of our economy. They’re far more likely to blame Bill Ritter.
and it’s the Treasuer race! People are way more focused on Gov and Senate races. Ament is a better speaker then her and if he can raise Stapleton $$$ he’ll win hands down. Kennedy can’t match opponenets funds and you’re saying she’ll be/has been raising funds for an effective campaign?
Yes, people will probably blame Ritter. But Rs will blame all dems following Obama and it will hurt them across the board. It’s their problem now, they control pretty much everything so each election it’ll get harder to point fingers saying this Republican is like Bush.
