Impromptu Pols Meet-Up Sunday

(my first intentional promotion – promoted by Barron X)

It’s been too long since we did one of these things, and as I promised long long ago, in the before time, when I was FP editor–it’s in Boulder.

5:00 P.M.

Southern Sun

627 S. Broadway St.

Boulder, CO 80305

Map

Note: Cash or local check (with valid ID) only, but they have an ATM.

That’s right you patchouli-coated Boulder Liberals, it’s finally time for you to shine.

Confirmed Polsters include yours truly and sxp151.

We know it’s last minute, but if you’ve got nothing better to do on Sunday, come on down and share a beer and I’m sure there will be some political discussion. Or we can just talk Rockies πŸ™‚

Hope to see some of you there.

  1. It’s my wife’s birthday on Saturday, so maybe she’ll be in a generous mood and let me take a field trip up to Boulder on Sunday πŸ˜‰

It would be good to know who I’m dealing with here!

  2. I would like to meet you guys. Next time there is one in LODO, I would like to go.

And it looks as though I will be posting here exclusively as I have just been banned at squarestate. Apparently it is overly easy to do.

      1. Yes, I was insufficiently square.

I will have to tell you about it some other time. Right now I’m hurt and I have other things to think about but rest assured, it’s SSDD.

      1. I’m a Steve Harvey volunteer (yes, everyone freak out!!!). I supported Steve in a thread on my most recent diary and johne started to attack me for not being transparent enough or something. I gracefully and rationally defended myself, called out yet another glaring hypocrisy of his (he works for a candidate and won’t link to the opponent’s website in the sidebar), and then he deleted my comments and banned me. So now his question of “who do you work for” remains forever unanswered in the annals of anal retention.

And I know how he thinks so I took screenshots before he deleted my comments.

And that was it. If you say anything out of line with what johne wants you to say, you get deleted.

But I’m sure you already know that.

    1. They check IDs at the county line….no one over 65…..and of course, the last time I had my ID checked in Boulder, it was fake and I had made myself older…drinking age.

      but I digress.

  3. I’ve got some Irish Trad music to play up at the Gilpin County Fair until 4pm tomorrow, and I’m not 100% sure of what I’m doing afterward.  I might consider a trip to Boulder and take in the Boulder session at Connor’s after – if I can convince my wife.

  4. …just got back from camping (and freezing my butt off) in Colorado State Forest State Park.

Probably the most beautiful park in the state, if not one of the most blandly-named.

I will be at City Councilwoman Bennett’s Hootenany, though…

  5. sxp151, DavidThi808, harrydoby, myself and Phoenix Rising and his wife showed up and we had a good discussion.

Very nice to meet all of you, and to see David again.

  6. So attendees where redstateblues, David Thielen, harrydoby, me, and Phoenix Rising (and his wife, who doesn’t post here). No conservatives, I’m afraid.

Apparently David was expecting to find late-career Walter Matthau instead of me. πŸ™‚

We all got along pretty well, although it would have been nice to see a conservative show up to one of these things (not sure any ever have, besides Laughing Boy). We’re actually much nicer in person (I think). As I recall we talked mainly about health care and how much we wanted to meet Libertad.

And the Southern Sun bought us a large set of fries, so we had that going for us.

In the end it rained like hell, and RSB offered me a ride, but instead I just got wet. I probably should have taken the ride.

    1. … but as a late career Walter Matthau (ok, more like Bob Newhart), I realized I probably wouldn’t succeed in pulling off the ruse.

Good time — great discussion.  Next one will be even better!
