(At Least He’s Not Your…Oh, Never Mind – promoted by Colorado Pols)
According to *Jim Kerr (R) of HD28, women shouldn’t be concerned about paying more for health care because they just need to fulfill their natural, God-given instincts to shop around more for better rates.
In this interview with Lisa Codispoti of the National Women’s Law Center, *Jim Kerr in typical Colorado Republican foot-in-mouth-style, demonstrates his heinous, deep-seated sexism and inability to think on his feet.
Jim:
What I’m concerned about is the 12%-42% and 11%-51% where women like to shop, but they don’t shop health care? I’ve got a disconnect with that.
Yeah, disconnect is a good word.
*(not Andy Kerr who will here forth be referred to as “Angel Kerr” …and I guess I will refer to Jim as “Heinous Kerr”)

And it is worth making extra bonus clear that this is Jim Kerr (R) and not Andy Kerr (D) we are talking about.
With a small legislature, we somehow wound up with two Kerrs and a Curry, two Gardners and a Baumgardner.
Your wish is his command.
Because then we have two Carrolls, two Mitchells, two Kings, and two S(c)haf(f)ers.
I’m pretty sure the biggest disparity is between the Kerrs.
There’s still two Carrolls! It was Johnson, McGihon, Veiga, Groff, Green, Isgar and Marostica who’ve left the Legislature this year. We almost had two Johnsons, though!
I was thinking it was Terrance that went to Washington, not Groff.
My bad.

It came out as just a good old fact – women like to shop.
Really? I didn’t get the memo in girl school. I must be a man then.
I think we could use a refresher course on stereotypes.
But what was worse is that stereotype was used to suggest the 40% discrimination difference between what men pay and women pay for the same coverage is somehow their fault for not “shopping enough.”
Rep. Jim Kerr is a nice person but someone has got to help pull the GOP into this decade. More than half the voters in this state are women.
You would think with all the losing by the GOP lately, they might get that they need women’s votes too.
and part of being stuck in the past is being unwilling to change or admit fault. It all makes sense to me why they continue on this way.
And she used to work in Accounts Receivable section of a home oxygen company.
She was in charge of shopping health care for us. And she shopped the hell out of it. Did a great job and didn’t succumb to any bullshit.
Much better than I could have done.
I’m glad my wife likes to shop.
we should all wish well in some other line of work. The GOP is welcome to the past as far as I’m concerned: The future belongs to those who have bothered to enter the gateway of the present.
The stereotype, or the fact that he’s so blind to the optics of his statement that he said it in an interview to the National Women’s Law Center – an organization whose mission statement is to promote the advancement of women.
Head-in-palm moment.
I don’t know if Kerr is a “nice person” or not, but Jim Kerr, like many elected officials (“Blue Dog” Democrat and Republican alike) are apathetic and disaffected in their desire to see true health care reform.
Why should (Jim) Kerr care about health care reform, really? He has an incredible income, gets to enjoy luxuries with the elite upper-class deal-makers of our State, has his future secured, and has health care coverage many in our State would die for (or are dying for lack of). His arrogance, condescension, and sexism reveal his true perspective, not how he behaves at fundraisers.
could use a little face time with reality.
His quips about shopping are nowhere near a solution to the problem, nor do they grasp the gravity of the situation.
Heinous Kerr, YOU’RE ON NOTICE!!
We’re in HD30, not HD28. HD28 includes much of southern Aurora. Sadly, our senator in HD30 is Ted Harvey, who is a world-class bozo in his own right.
I think I was looking at the words Highland Ranch right before I wrote that.
OOPS! OMG
There are a few precincts of Aurora in HD 39 (Balmer) and a precinct of HD 38 (Rice) and several precincts in HD 40 (Acree). Precinct in HD 44 (May) is in DougCo.
Out of those four – one likes to shop.
“‘Cause girls just want to shop a-rou-ound! ‘Cause girls just want to shop around!” Then he breaks into the higher pitched part about how if only they had remained true to their natural propensity to love shopping, they wouldn’t have gotten screwed on the Health Insurance market….
I can just picture him decked out in the orange hair and frilly-freaky outfits (and walrus mustache and pot-belly) as he sings and dances his way into our hearts!
Nice Guy from what I hear, but seriously.
