Once You Go Poop, It's Hard to Go Back

Alex Walker steps into the poop storm

Ballots for the June 28th Primary Election start going out in the mail next week, which means candidates are raising the rhetorical stakes with just a few weeks left in their campaigns.

To that end, the three Democrats vying for the nomination in CO-03 took part in a candidate forum on Wednesday. Sol Sandoval is positioning herself as the most “liberal” of the three candidates, while Adam Frisch is hoping to fill the “moderate” lane. And Alex Walker, who we really only know as the “poop guy,” is trying to make a lane of his own.

As The Colorado Sun reports in its “Unaffiliated” newsletter:

Alex Walker, a first-time candidate who grew up on the Front Range, is the firebrand. He says the only way for Democrats to beat Boebert is to stop playing by the traditional political rules…

Walker said he is “so tired of watching people who have been sanded down like little marbles run for office when in reality we need some texture.” [Pols emphasis] He also said he didn’t go through the assembly to get on the ballot because it’s “designed to keep people out who don’t have connections in every corner of the Democratic Party.”

When Walker says “texture,” we assume he isn’t talking about undigested pieces of corn.

There may be some truth to what Walker is saying here about marbles and texture, but when your first introduction to voters is via a digital ad based on the premise that it is literally raining excrement, you have to account for the fact that the rest of your message might get a little, shall we say, muddy.
