I know I should be doing something more, either to raise consciousness, or to get the withdrawal accelerated.
But ever since the announcement of Obama Plan, people seem to think that the problem is solved, and I need to just be patient.
But the ugly reality is that every additional day of a US occupation government ruling Iraq makes us a little less safe. Speeding up the withdrawal by just a couple of months would do so much to mend our broken relationships with the rest of the world.
From outside our borders it looks like Obama wimped out and adopted the Bush withdrawal timetable because he fears he is vulnerable on the “national defense” issue.

President Obama stated early in the campaign that he wanted a withdrawal as quickly as prudently possible. Not until he got into office did he see that you can’t rush this. If you do, you may get the fall of Saigon replayed over and over again on our 24-hour news cycle.
This will hopefully put pressure on the Iraqis to finally “step up” and take responsibility for their own country, and let us get out of their way.

full story, mostly in video form.
Watching the clips from the beginning brings back alot of memories. I use to go home for lunch and watch Baghdad getting bombed. Good times.
