  1. Andrew Romanoff, former Speaker of the House for the State of Colorado, has recently joined the School of Public Affairs as a Scholar-in-Residence. Romanoff will be helping to connect students with state government opportunities, assist with capstones, teach in the MPA program and work on various civic engagement initiatives. Romanoff recently finished his JD from the University of Denver and holds a BA from Yale and a MPP from Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government.

  2. When times are rough, Acquafresca said, “Citizens need more from their local government.”

I jest.  Good on ya Steve!  Thank Janet’s Jebus there is one adult on the commission.  link

  3. First official briefing on the Trauma Court &Jail Diversion program I’ve been working on these last few months.

It’s a friendly venue – the Executive Group of the United Veterans Committee (http://www.unitedveteranscommittee.com/) A friendly group of people to brief, to be sure.

However, going over my notes and presentation, the seriousness of the matter has stressed me out – I feel like the first time I rappelled off the 200 ft tower at Fort Benning. My ass is so tight you couldn’t shove a penny up with a sledgehammer…

    1.    Now there’s a man who’s not afraid of his ethnic heritage and saw no need to change his name to Bobby.  Piyush Jindahl doesn’t have that kind of integrity.

      1. Sanjay Gupta never had to run for election in a backwater state.

Besides, plenty of people refer to themselves by their nicknames, like Dan Quayle, Scooter Libby, etc., or just about any movie star from more than 50 years ago.

And tons of immigrants Americanize their names, not necessarily because they’re ashamed of their heritage, but just because it’s a huge pain in the ass to always tell someone how to pronounce your name.

My dad actually changed his last name just before I was born so I wouldn’t grow up with a foreign-sounding name.

So despite all the problems I have with Jindal, I don’t think he should get crap for calling himself “Bobby.”

  4. Craig Meis & Janet Rowland held a press conference at the NW Oil & Gas Forum in Rifle this morning.

Available at KJCT8 is both the video of part of the press conference and the letter from Meis to Gov. Ritter.

It’s just more of the usual misinformation and whining that we’ve all grown to expect from O&G shills the last couple of years.

In both the video and letter he claims that the Piceance Basin is seeing declines faster than any basin in the US. I guess you if don’t consider New Mexico, Alabama, Montana and two of the in-land districts in Texas part of the United States, then his claim might be partially true.

Here’s the closing to his letter:

We are now urging our Governor and our Legislature to extend an olive branch to this industry and begin a dialogue on how we might be able to stop the economic bleeding that we are currently facing in Northwest Colorado. We would hope that Governor Ritter would at least try to begin a dialogue with this industry’s leaders to see if anything can be done to mitigate the obvious and drastic downturn in investment in Colorado and the Piceance Basin. PLEASE HELP!!!!

After all the things people like Meis and other spokespeople for COGA have said about Gov. Ritter, WHO should be extending an olive branch?

    1. and watched the Meis stand-up comedy routine last night.  His busking now is hilarious.  Many people have been warning him for a long time about the perils of putting all the area’s economic eggs in the drilling skillet.  When the O&G cartel, known as the Mesa County Commissioners, have ignored all the warnings for so long, no one should cry when Meis’ own business goes belly-up.  Now Meis is begging Governor Ritter to bail him out of his own myopic failures.  All this after they have tried everything the could, including law suits, to stop the state’s economic recovery.  And after all the BS we have heard from them this past couple of years, they are asking Ritter to “extend the olive branch”?  It has always been “want and take” for Meis and never taking personal responsibility for his own failures.  Typical for the far right here.
