George W. Bush's OJ Simpson moment

  • by: Akropoli

On Monday, President Bush expressed regrets over some actions taken by his administration, such as congress blocking some of his initiatives and not finding WMDs, but defended other actions such as his handling of Katrina and keeping America safe. According to Bush, history will be the final judge of his actions and endeavors.

Understandably, Bush is now scrambling to justify his incredibly unpopular administration. One cannot help conjuring up the monologue delivered by OJ Simpson immediately before his most recent conviction: “I didn’t mean to hurt anybody or do anything illegal.” The problem is-you did OJ/George. Claiming that the Katrina debacle was handled well is an insult to the intelligence of the American public, and the thousands of people whose lives were derailed as a result. We probably won’t have the satisfaction of seeing anyone held accountable for the dastardly events of the Bush years.

According to The Psychology of Criminal Responsibility by Robert Schopp, “The conduct that renders and actor liable for a criminal offense must include either a voluntary act, or a voluntary omission of an act that the defendant has a legal duty to perform and is physically capable of performing.” Therefore, under any definition imaginable, how is George W. Bush any better than OJ Simpson defending his indiscretions? I have no doubt both pleas for clemency will fall on deaf ears.

  1. So what? Comparing Bush to a black man is supposed to be bad?

Isn’t being George Bush bad enough? No, you had to find some black guy to compare him to in order to underscore your point.

    1. Or really just this fucking ignorant? Because I’ve read your comments, all of them, and the common theme with you and your “white man keeping me down” meme is already growing old and you haven’t been here 24 hours.

So, which is it? Are you fucking stupid or is this performance art for a class project?

Coming from an Asian/ Caucasian family, I didn’t even see the racial aspect of this diary until SanKore pointed it out.

I, for one, benefit from her (his) insight in this specific case.  This one case.
