Is the America we grew up in a relic of the past?

  • by: Sir Robin

When the current bunch in the WH called the Constitution just a quaint piece of paper, what exactly were they talkling about?

Here’s a theory:

Jobs left America because the game is no longer about manufacturing, it’s about looting…..stealing other countries’ resources by direct military force, on the one hand, and/or through financial fraud. Why is there so little effort to protect the dollar?

While the recent looting and attempted looting of oil and other resources, worldwide, has been going on, one of the key things that Americans are failing to notice is that they are not getting any of the loot. Even more glaringly, Americans are failing to notice that their country, their economy, is being looted–right along with the other countries and economies around the world.

It USED to be that Americans could expect to live high as beneficiaries of the corporations and financials that were, at least nominally, “American” corporations and financials.

This view is that the US–like many other places–is being relegated to the status of a mere “colony” or “sphere of influence” with natural and human resources to be exploited, as in Latin American banana republics, African countries, and Iraq.

The exploiting corporations are no longer American, and America no longer enjoys a favored or beneficiary status among the nations being looted.

But the illusion remains among Americans that they will get a piece of the action–as they have in the past.

I’d say this isn’t being done BY us–not any more. It is now being done TO us.

  1. When only Kobe Bryant is left not saying “America’s Great, BUT…” in public, we’re hosed.

Time to build up the arsenal and wait for the end…  And then wait for The End in December, 2012.

  2. that conservatives were the ones living in the past. Hoping to reach back for some idyllic, non-existant time that lives only in their imaginations.

    I guess I was wrong.

    1. …I think people got the impression that your rhetoric ruined your point.   Maybe you should dabble less in grandiloquence and more in straightforward expression.

        1. …Lord, I don’t even know what you’re talking about….but it gives me the shivers.  and your “dictionary” reference is even more random

          1. You’re using a term with connotations of personal knowledge of an individual. This suggests a level of comfort that, as you and whomever you’re addressing don’t know each other,  they’re understandably uncomfortable.

It’s a term of endearment, but under circumstances such as your use with Sir Robin, a term of condescension.

            1. I believe it was a reference to your use of grandiloquence, “Pompous or bombastic speech or expression.” The statement “none of you get it” was neither pompous or bombastic.
