Prop 47 - Jonathan Coors is Clueless Ideologue

  •
  • by: vercingetrix

In my last post I linked to a post by at Squarestate about contacting Andy Vuong about getting his facts straight on Amendment 47, to Right to Work for Less proposition.  As I was reading Andy’s piece on Jonathan Coors, I was initially struck by how unbalanced a piece it was in favor of Coors.

Then I ran across another piece in the Weekly Standard basically copying Andy’s love sonnet on Coors.  Written by Fred Barnes, the piece really makes clear that Jonathan Coors is pushing this anti-family Right to Work for Less amendment based purely ‘philosophical’ reason.  He disdains Arnold Schwarzenegger because he compromises to get things done, claiming he is ‘unprincipled’.

Wow, the guy behind Amendment 47 admits he did not analyze whether Prop 47 would benefit Colorado, he simply believes we should have such a law.  Neither piece explains why he believes we need to stop workers from paying their fair share of the burden of representing them in contract negotiations.  He simply believes it, and wants to ram it down Coloradoans throats.

Moreover, when a deal was on the table to shelve some amendments the business community did not like in exchange for Coors dropping Amendment 47, he declined.  Why?  Out of ‘principle’.

This ought to raise serious red flags to anyone considering Prop 47.  It’s key backer and funder did not bother to figure out how such a law would affect hard working Colorado families, his ideology simply informed him we needed it.

Ideology over rationality.  Philosophy over thoughtful analysis.  Do we really want to pass a law driven by one clueless, pie-in-the-sky idealist?  The two articles referenced clearly describe Mr. Coors that way; that is not just me talking.

Will average Coloradoans see this for what it is, the personal agenda of one blinded idealist?
