  1. Pipelines are safe and the top priority of the companies who run them are health and safety of Americans:

MANDAREE, N.D. (AP) — Company and tribal officials say a pipeline on North Dakota's Fort Berthold Indian reservation has leaked 1 million gallons of saltwater, with some of the fluid finding its way to a bay that leads to a lake that provides drinking water for the reservation.

Cleanup continued there Thursday and Miranda Jones, vice president of environmental safety and regulatory at Houston-based Crestwood Midstream Services Inc., said it was expected to last for weeks.

Jones said the leak at the underground pipeline, owned by Crestwood subsidiary Aero Pipeline LLC, likely started over the Fourth of July weekend but was only discovered on Tuesday. The pipeline was not equipped with a system that sends an alert when there is a leak, she said, and the spill was only discovered when the company was going through production loss reports.

  2. Looks like everyone else is laughing at something and Perry is trying his hardest to suppress so much as a slight smile. Same thing on the tarmac. He really does not want to appear in any photo looking happy within yards of Obama. How mature. Are there any pics of Perry holding his breath until he turns blue?

              1. Mothership instructions are:

AFP -Colorado twitter feed: Obamacare fail, EPA, IM Bank, fracking creates jobs, fractivists = evil

Drudge report: Illegal immigrant invasion, (conspiracy by Obama), Obama avoids Texas border, etc, etc. Israel is really nice to Palestinians, bla bla.

                So…no new material. Yawners.

If you really miss our trollies, you can try whistling for them:

                Here, trollboy!

  3. And in the You Can't Make This Stuff Up category:

In a condemnatory speech last week against the Obama administration’s new Environmental Protection Agency carbon emission regulations, Kentucky state Sen. Brandon Smith (R) claimed that man-made climate change is scientifically implausible because Mars and Earth share “exactly” the same temperature.

So much for Dems having to go out of their way to make R pols look stupid.

        1. I don't agree that there's been much hyper-partisanship on the Dem side. Maybe among bloggers but our pols, from the President on down, have insisted on doggedly trying to compromise, including dissing supposed extremists on their own side (where? certainly not in the Senate and no more than a couple in the House) long past the time the GOTP made it clear any such attempts would be futile.  99.9% of all hyper-partisanship has been completely one sided.

        2. To the degree that legislation is based on lies?  We should compromise with these dimwits that so long as Earth and Mars have the same temperature, we don't need to address climate change?

          1. Sí, señor.

More on that elusive moderate voter that Dems are always searching for:

The establishment media loves the idea of a great American moderate political center, mostly because it would mean there is still a large market for their pathetic products that try for universal appeal in order to obtain eclectic advertising. Though for many of the media elite having influence is an end as well as a means to an end. Unfortunately for them, no such “center” exists andmoderates are a statistical myth. There is, in fact, no third way.

The moderate or centrist voter, in theory, would be one who likes the status quo and would favor empty bipartisan gestures based on triangulating a position between the extremes of the left and the right. These moderates are what many politicians are instructed to appeal to. But according to a study from UC Berkeley, a careful reading of public opinion surveys shows those moderate people do not actually exist.

What happens, explains David Broockman, a political scientist at the University of California at Berkeley, is that surveys mistake people with diverse political opinions for people with moderate political opinions. The way it works is that a pollster will ask people for their position on a wide range of issues: marijuana legalization, the war in Iraq, universal health care, gay marriage, taxes, climate change, and so on. The answers will then be coded as to whether they’re left or right. People who have a mix of answers on the left and the right average out to the middle — and so they’re labeled as moderate…

  4. Cory Gardner — Man of the people with the middle class always his top priority (NOT):

    From the Colorado Independent:

During the government shutdown last August, two weeks after the heavens opened up and turned north-eastern Colorado into a national disaster flood zone, Colorado Congressman Cory Gardner met with Karl Rove and big-money GOP donors to hobnob.

    But wait, there's more:

The story recalls Gardner’s attendance at a fundraiser hosted for him by British Petroleum in June 2010. The swank event at the “boutique Hotel George” made national headlines, coming as it did during the BP Deepwater Horizon spill in the Gulf of Mexico, the largest marine oil spill in the history of the petroleum industry. The gusher was still spewing crude into the Gulf as Gardner was meeting with the company’s lobbyists.

Con Man Cory doin' what he does best — taking care of Number 1 by doing the dirty work for his masters.

  5. The GOP and the Koch brothers aren't spending enough time and money beating the dead horse against Obamacare.  Their troops just haven't gotten the message for some reason.  I'm sure there is plenty of time and money to quash this insurrection!

A poll of Obamacare enrollees published Thursday by the Commonwealth Fund found that 74 percent of newly insured Republicans are happy with the plans they bought.

But the survey wasn't all good news. HuffPost's Jeffrey Young reports that more than one-third of the lowest-income residents in states that didn't take up the Obamacare Medicaid expansion at the beginning of this year remain uninsured.

Gee, I wonder how many of those in GOP-controlled states that denied them Medicaid coverage for their kids will vote Republican?  Hmmmm
