John McCain channels George Bush

  • by: DavidThi808

from The Denver Post

The Colorado Democratic Party sent a tracker to video U.S. Sen. John McCain’s press conference at the Brown Palace on Thursday, but the twenty-something Democratic staffer was escorted out of the event by a security agent after being confronted by McCain’s staff.

The Democrats said their staffer initially identified himself to an event organizer when he arrived. When McCain showed up along with other prominent Republicans, a woman who identified herself as McCain’s press secretary first blocked the camera, then instructed the security agent to escort the tracker out of the room because he wasn’t a member of the press.

The article says it all – once again only supporters allowed.

  1. Next time Obama’s in town, I’m going to waltz into the event with a video camera, identify meself as Henry Kisinger, aide to Dick Wadhams, and commece filming.  How long will I last?

Yes, this event was invite only, just like several other Democrat fundraisers have been in the past months, which of course no R’s attended.

Go play in your own tree house!

    1. According to you:

this event was invite only, just like several other Democrat fundraisers

      According to the Denver Post:

      Dick, is that you, Dick?

      1. But yes, I can still see the difference between a press conference and a fundraiser, which this event at the Brown, even though seperate from the event at the DAC, was still an invite only deal.

        1. But I agree. It was a private function; in other words, it’s John McCain’s party, and he can cry if he wants to, cry if he wants to, cry if he wants to…

I also think this malcontent tossed out has the right to get as much mileage as possible out of it.

          Ah…the “free market” of ideas…

  2. The guy was not a member of the press.  I am sure the Democrats have plenty of people they could have sent who are both McCain-haters and possess the appropriate credentials.  Then again, maybe, as this post suggests, only members of the press who have sworn allegiance to McCain were allowed?  If so, good post.  Otherwise, it sounds like liberal whining.

    1. I’m way left of anybody on here, but this is a trivial matter  which is being blown out of proportions.

So what if the McCain people kicked someone out? If a Mccain aide came to an Obama fundraiser, I’m pretty sure he’d get some scornful glances; hell, I’d kick him out.

(Not to say that I’d appear at an Obama Fundraiser, or anything.)

  3. Unless the person escorting the staffer out was implying that he was with the Secret Service.

I’m still hoping that David Lane gives the Secret Service and the White House a terrific a**-kicking.

  4. Only credentialed press were allowed in.  There were a few bloggers who were invited, and had to be approved and waved in by the campaign staff.  The hotel security were quite insistent on having the proper credentials.

      1. Find out about said event. Call up the press contact for said event. Tell said person you want to attend, that you’re a conservative blogger who writes a guest column (or whatever it is you’ve been promoted to) for Colorado Pols (if somehow you, “Haners,” can actually prove it and they’ll believe you; it helps if ColoradoPols will actually back you up on this). Could be they’ll invite you, at that point.

Now…it might be a little harder with a McCain event, given that he’s the actual Republican candidate for President…you’ll probably have to undergo some background check or some such thing…

But it’s worth a shot, if you’re game to pursue it.

        1. And yet it never crossed my mind…  I’ll have to give that a shot sometime!

The biggest issue is that when I hear about these things, it’s either too late or it’s in Denver at 2:00 on a Monday.

Believe it or not, but I do have a day job!  Why can’t they have these things at like 6:30 in Colorado Springs??  🙂

          1. Sometimes it’s hard to attend an event like that because you haven’t heard about it in time or because of the working-man routine.

Here’s an idea to get put on the list to hear about these things, though: call and leave a message for Dick Wadhams. He probably knows who you are, at this point (your online voice, that is). If he’s as sensible as you Republican people seem to think he is, he’ll make sure you’re put on a list, or referred to someone who can keep you updated.

      1. It’s just a shame that Pols put your post on the front page.  I am not saying that you are in the wrong about bringing this up, it just paints Pols in the light of trying to “bait” some of us.

        Just my two cents.

        1. Blame just me. I wrote it and I placed it on the front page. If you can give me a legit link that makes it clear it allowed any press in, I’ll post an update above taking responsibility.

          thanks – dave
