Turning Tricks: Republicans Better for Business?

  • by: Colorado Pols

Are Democrats or Republicans better for the “escort” and nude entertainment business? We’d never really pondered that question before…until now. As the Rocky Mountain News reports:

Political tricks may not be the only ones turned during the Democratic National Convention in Denver this August.

The sex and adult entertainment industries are expecting a boom in business when an estimated 35,000 visitors descend on the Mile High City for the presidential nominating bash.

At the Pepsi Center, the focus will be on a single nominee.

But outside the event, the choices available to the delegates, journalists and others are unlimited, giving new meaning to the term “conventional sex.”…

…Too bad for Watson and others like him that Denver didn’t land the GOP convention instead, said Carol Leigh, a San Francisco prostitute “over 50” who has traveled to previous Democratic conventions in Los Angeles and Atlanta.

“It would be a lot better for the sex workers if it was the Republican convention,” she said.

“We get a lot more business. I don’t know if they’re just frustrated because of the family values agenda,” she said.

Naturally, we had to do a poll. Click below to vote, and keep it clean with the comments.

  1. Libertarians will legalize this and allow the hookers to be treated as a legitimate job. Right now, they get beaten, get (and pass) stds, etc.  From having talked to a few ex-hookers from Vegas, they told me that they were making 100-150K back in late 80’s.

OTH, out of the parties, I would suspect that republicans will spend the most on the girls (and boys). In fact, I have little doubt that they probably will spend more than all the rest combined.  Shoots, look at haggard, craig, even ill. senator ryan (married to “7-of-9” actress). They had some nice wives, but were unsatisfied. Pretty sad commentary. Some of the couples that I have known from the outside who were hard core republicans looked like they had perfect marriages and were some of the unhappiest ppl that I have known.

  2. It’s good for the Can that we have the Dems coming to town.  If it were the GOP, the Pepsi Center would need to spend lots of money modifying the men’s room stalls to accomodate the typical Republican wide stance!

However, with the Dems in town, area dry cleaners can look forward to an uptick in their dress-cleaning revenue.

For what? tea parties? Offhand, It sounds like they are plenty good for many republicans. Heck, ask craig.

    1. Frustration has little to do with it. We Libertarians happen to be fond of poontang. And entrepreneurship. That would be unmarried Libertarians, of course; I mean, where “convention hostesses” would be involved. That is to say, all Libertarians are for imaginative entrepreneurship, and for the right to engage in consensual erotic adventures – but it’s only the unmarried Libertarians who are interested in the right price to engage in … . We married Libertarians only view this sort of social intercourse in the abstract politic. Yeah, that’s right. The abstract …
