Rocky's Bartels shows media bias against Swift Boaters

Here’s another example of left-wing media bias in today’s Rocky Mountain News.

Note that Lynn doesn’t give the Swift Boaters’ side of the story. She just writes an editorial against them:

Swift Boat paid for ads featuring Vietnam veterans making what critics said where unsubstantiated allegations challenging Massachusetts Sen. John Kerry’s record of wartime heroism. Kerry was the Democratic Party’s nominee for president.

Democrats believe the ads helped prolong the Iraq war by aiding the re-election of President George W. Bush.

“The lies of the so-called Swift Boat Veterans for Truth were an insult to everyone who has ever worn the uniform of our country,” Kerry spokesman Drew O’Brien said Thursday.

“I can’t imagine why anyone, let alone any Democrat, would want to be associated with those who bankrolled smears and lies about a decorated combat veteran.”

Of course, those who agree with her editorial won’t admit that this is liberal media bias. No matter how much evidence they see, they say liberal media bias doesn’t exist.

The Swift Boaters who served with Kerry came forward in 2004 to tell the truth about Kerry and expose him as a traitor and liar. They saved the country and world from Kerry.

  1. That’s to be EXPECTED. Try finding some in REPORTING. (And you’re right, those of us who know the truth won’t find a truthful editorial to be slanted, but that’s beside the point.)

    1. It appears that I owe AS an apology, as this article is clearly news, not opinion. Silly me, I let myself be confused by AS’s use of the word “editorial.”

At the very least, Bartels should have included a quote from the swift boat donor explaining why he gave to them. But I wouldn’t expect her to have contacted the SBVT themselves since a) I’m sure they’re defunct and b) they’re view isn’t pertinent in this context.

      1. There’s nothing factually incorrect about reporting on the SBVT’s lies. They just should have said so without soliciting a comment from a Kerry spokesperson.
