Seven Months of Your Presidential Thoughts

  • by: Colorado Pols

Every month we ask Colorado Pols readers who they think will be the Democratic Nominee for President and who they think will be the Republican Nominee for President.

These polls, of course, are not at all scientific. But the reason we ask who you think will win the respective nominations is because you are all close watchers of politics and have a good day-to-day grasp of how things ebb and flow. Thus, your thoughts on these races are an interesting look at how the perception of individual candidates is changing.

We’ve compiled the results (PDF) of the seven months of polls for your viewing pleasure, and here’s what stands out thus far:

  • You have thought from day one that Hillary Clinton would end up with the Democratic nomination, but you’re gradually losing faith that Al Gore will win…probably because you’re losing faith that he’ll even run. Hillary is the first candidate to crack the 50% mark in these polls, which she did last week.

  • You initially believed that John McCain would win the Republican nomination, but his perception has fallen so far that he didn’t get a single vote in the latest poll. Rudy Giuliani was your leader for several months, but Mitt Romney has come on stronger in recent months.
