"Simple Math..."

Politics. Where highly complicated national and global issues are boiled down into black and white talking points. Where things that should be relatively clear are spun into something that is “controversial” or “confusing.”

For example, take Dick Wadhams’ interview in The Hill Newspaper yesterday. Dick is discussing the fact that Bob Schaffer raised $717,000 in Q2 compared to Mark Udall’s $1.1 million. According to Dick, “Simple math tells me Bob Schaffer had a better quarter than Mark Udall.”

Now, it is fair to argue that Schaffer had better fundraising per day compared to Mark Udall when one takes into account the time they were actually running. Maybe it is even fair (although I would dispute it) to say that Bob Schaffer was a more effective fundraiser than Mark Udall. But to say he had a better quarter is so far spun around as to become a lie.

Only in politics could someone like Dick Wadhams get away with saying that $717,000 is better than $1.1 million.

    1. You take the lead sentence where the writer attempts to throw a bone to Schaffer…….you steal the bone and run with it!!

What lesson can I take away here? Stop giving the dog a bone?

        1. He’s a digusting hate peddler and you find him just funny, and a great all around guy for the crap he throws out there. This isn’t a game, and that’s all it seems to be to you and DICK Wad.

Hiring Dick Wad again by the State GOP was about as low as they could go… oh wait he even demanded $160,000 a year to lose more races. What a bunch of fools you are.

          1. I’m just amazed at how much you “know” about me.  It’s about as much as the I.Q. of a person who gets such a kick out of the name “Dick”

            1. You said DICK!

Oh come on, you’ve been repeating the lines that Chairman Dick like the Gazette or Rocky Mountain News (a couple of giggling school girls).

Admit it, Dick is a Dick.

  1. Because when the number of elected Republicans drop each election, Wadhams can spend more time on each remaining candidate.

Seriously, it was a reasonable way for Wadhams to spin it. It’s up to the newspaper to make the context clear.
