A very brave attorney who has been in the Department of Justice for 25 years wrote this editorial in the post.
An incredible indicment of the Bush administration from one who is in the DOJ. And what is even more scary, it seems to not be newsworthy – either because everyone just assumes this is true or people don’t care about this. Either way, not a good sign.

The fate of the whistle-blower is invariably the same. The crooks always go on to the World Bank, academia, or talk radio like G. Gordon Liddy or Oliver North, but the whistle-blower’s life is invariably ruined. Here’s just one example of many who dared to stand up to the Bush Administration (http://www.patriotic…):
How will John Koppel be painted? Why don’t you call him “obsessed?” Will he be greeted with scorn and indifference, like Tiltawhirl? If this were the Clinton administration, a lot of people here would be sharpening their knives right now.
The piece reads like a memo to Hillary, “Nominate me” to be the next Fed DA.
And it reads like the angry cries of a 25-year employee who can’t deal with changes brought by the new guys. He seems to be out of touch with the war on terrorism and naive about politics.
I doubt anybody really cares.
A 25 year guy is a career guy. to work for a Reagan and Clinton administration a guy is clearly a non partisan.
Maybe he does want an appointment, I don’t know. I do know however, he could make more money in the private sector.
To me he seems upset with the ethics of the new justice department, not the politics. This isn’t a political issue, it is an attorney ethics issue. Gonzo et. al. should be disbarred–there behavior is at least as bad as Nifong. At the risk of drawing in certain people in, everyone knows that prosecutors are often, but not always, political animals. And because of that, sanctions and protests by collegues, only come when the conduct is egregious.
I have more experience with folks over at treasury than justice and contrary to popular opinion I have generally found career government professionals to be dedicated to their ethics and to their mission.
In some government agencies it is stunning how good the professionals are(I’ve only ever met one idiot in an analyst at the FED, but I met many at Goldman). One of the worst things about Bush is how he has destroyed the morale at nearly every part of the government he has touched.
George Bush Jr. and Dick Cheney have cast their sins upon the people of this Country and the World for the past six and a half years. Their demonism has seeped through the bowels of injustice and government like excrement to the extent that the stench can no longer be ignored or tolerated by the masses.
Bush and Cheney are the proverbial blind-guides and false Christians who do things in the name of God that God did not command. In Biblical times, false prophets such as these were stoned to death. “There are many who think that they are righteous because they say yes to God, but they do not do his will.”
Thank you Mr. Koppel, and Jesselyn Radack, for having the courage to expose the evil and sins of these “brood of vipors!”
