Full-Service Musgrave?

  • by: Colorado Pols

This just in from the Fort Collins Coloradoan:

Congresswoman Marilyn Musgrave wants to hear your concerns about energy and gas prices.

The Fort Morgan Republican will pump gas from 1 to 2 p.m. today at Cenex, 501 S Taft Hill Road, and is inviting residents to meet her at the pump and tell her how the high gas prices are affecting you and your families.

“We will see a peak in the summer driving season as families take time to travel for Independence Day, so gas prices will be on most peoples’ minds,” said Musgrave. “There is no better place to hear from individuals on this matter than at the pump, so I look forward to manning the pump and listening to the energy solutions people want to see passed in Congress.”

  1. She will pumping gass for a photo op at the time of day when it will be near or over 100 degrees. Probably the worse time to be pumping gas from an environmental viewpoint.

So she gets to push gass for her oil buddies AND help damamge the air. That’s our Marilyn!

  2. Inhaling all those fumes can’t be good for you. Maybe she’ll get loopy and say something to flush all her running – for – the – center goodwill down the toilet.

    1. Why else would she agree to a publicity stunt anywhere near a gas station? Hello… cameras. If she thought the smoochie from Bush picture was damaging she definitely hasn’t seen the “I Heart Big Oil” one that will be circulating soon enough. This should be fun.

Now all she needs is an ag forum to kiss some more ass and show her changed bipartisan ways. Oh wait that’s right… she had one today courtesy republican ass kisser Mark Udall.

      1. That’s right, Mark Udall is “hosting” Marilyn Musgrave at an ag event. No surprise. He pulled the same kind of stunt with Musgrave last year. He did the same thing to Ted Strickland in 2002 when Wayne Allard was one of the most vulnerable incumbent senators in America. He’ll never get a dime from me.

Mark Udall will sell out any Democrat if he can get a day of press out of it. In this case all he’s doing is angering Larimer and Weld County Democrats that could make or break him in a close contest. Stupid.

However, if I was Bob Schaffer, I would be just a little PO’d that Marilyn Musgrave and Mark Udall are acting like peas in a pod.

    1. …and about how much Angie will have. I’m guessing Angie will have a lot more, especially b/c Betsy only had 30 days to raise money, but who knows.

I’ve been watching the FEC website and found out Angie had $13,547.87 cash on hand raised in her 1st 4 months after she announced in her last run (06/01/2005 through 09/30/2005). Obviously she will have a ton more this time around but I thought that was surprisingly low. I wonder if Betsy will have numbers like that. If she has less than 20,000 she’s going to have some real problems. I’m venturing a guess at 30,000…? As for Angie… I haven’t the slightest clue. Anyone else have thoughts?

  3. They need to raise at least $80,000 to be in the game.  Lets’ see who has the fundraising talent and rolodex. In a moment when Presidential Dem candidates break records CD 4 has to keep up.

    1. I would think that’s a little steep. Angie can prob swing it but I doubt Betsy will get that in 30 days. The real test will be the 2nd filing. That’s when the money is really gonna count and show us who’s boss.

      1. Why bother to run if you don’t have your ducks in a row to begin with? CD-4 is not some tea party. Angie got in with half of the quarter already burned through, so it will be great to see her break $75,000. I’d be surprised to see Betsy raise half of that, even though she got in relatively soon after Angie filed papers.

        1. It’s not like this was a last second decision by either Angie or Betsy, they should have been able to get all their low hanging fruit in by now.

My assumption is that both should be able to break $70k, which is about 15 donors maxing out.

          1. especially since there’s a primary… they will probably give the max of $2,300 before the primary and then $2,300 after. that means 30 people maxing out… which is high

you’re right though you would think they we’re both already prepared to be asking for cash prior to announcing

  4. any word on how Musty survived her afternoon in the sun?  perhaps she’s overcome from the heat and the gas vapors, and has decided to join the Sister of Sappho.

    1. Few drivers were filling up in the blistering mid-day heat while Musgrave was at the station and some politely declined her invitation to help them at the pump. Expected congressional challenger Eric Eidsness, who ran as a Reform Party candidate in 2006 and recently registered as a Democrat, was one of the first in line to have her fill the tank of his Harley Davidson motorcycle.
      ……………
That would have been a good photo op!
