Colorado presidential fundraising numbers, courtesy the Denver Post:
Democratic presidential contender Barack Obama raised more early money in Colorado than any other candidate, with residents of Boulder and Denver first in line to support the Illinois senator, an analysis of federal records shows.
The $565,087 amassed by Obama dwarfed the amounts raised by other top-tier Democrats in Colorado. New York Sen. Hillary Clinton netted only $84,535, and former North Carolina Sen. John Edwards raised $78,350. New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson garnered $151,950.
On the Republican side, Mitt Romney was the big Colorado fundraiser, collecting $374,575. Trailing Romney was former New York City Mayor Rudolph Giuliani with $102,101 and Arizona Sen. John McCain with $76,865.
Although the money raised in Colorado was a fraction of the cash funneled from states such as California and New York to candidates, Obama’s and Romney’s financial performance in Colorado may be a sign of things to come.
Meanwhile, back at the ranch(o):
Tancredo, who officially announced he was running for president two weeks ago, raised nearly $1.2 million from Jan. 1 through March 31. He has $575,078 remaining.
“Watch out, big guys, here comes the little guy!” said Tancredo, who campaigned in Iowa over the weekend.
Seventy-five percent of Tancredo’s contributions were under $200, indicating a strong grassroots effort. The campaign is not legally required to itemize those donors but said the average contribution was $61.
An analysis shows California leading the way with $60,115 in disclosed contributions to Tancredo. Much of the money came from the southern part of the state. California was followed closely by Colorado with $56,975 and Texas with $26,470.
Tancredo, who is serving his fifth term in the 6th Congressional District, estimated that $400,000 came from Internet donors…

Obama raised more money than any other candidate ion Colroado eh? I am an Obama supporter but I am surprised nonetheless.
Sweet!
right now. Obama is a very talented writer. What an interesting childhood he had – growing up in Hawaii, Indonesia, attending college in LA, New York, and Boston. He is a pretty amazing person.
Obama is the only one to have staff here fundraising full time for him.
You do not think that McCain, Gulliani, Romney, Tancredo and Clinton do not have full-timers here? I would be absolutely surprised if not. I imagine the smaller candidates do not, but based on the money that is coming into the top ones, it is obvious that they have full-timers in nearly ALL states, if not all. And this state is almost certainly at the top.
in CO. Her numbers may not beat Obama’s here, but they will go up when she campaigns here. As far as I know she hasn’t done any type of events in CO. I think CO just isn’t on her radar.
That’s actually not bad for Crazy Tancreepo, although it basically just means the coffers of Defend Colorado Now and other radical anti-immigrant groups dried up instead. I’m enjoying his stunt candidacy.
Isn’t anyone surprised Richardson out raised both Clinton and Giuliani? I think this shows the guy may be for real. Personally, I don’t think he can get the nomination, but this makes him a serious contender for VP. Especially since the Dems are certainly going to be concentrating on the West in ’08.
