Jena Griswold Cruising To Democratic AG Nomination

Colorado Secretary of State Jena Griswold.

A new poll from Global Strategy Group released by Democratic Attorney General candidate Jena Griswold shows the incumbent Secretary of State with a more-or-less insurmountable lead over her three Democratic primary opponents:

A recent poll of 800 likely voters in Colorado’s 2026 Democratic primary, conducted by Global Strategy Group, shows that Secretary of State Jena Griswold is in a dominant position in the race for Colorado Attorney General. Griswold is polling 39% ahead of her closest opponent – with over six times more support. In fact, Griswold has over twice the support of all her primary opponents combined. Since June 2025, Griswold’s support has increased from 42% to 46% now…

Andrew Baumann, Partner at Global Strategy Group, said, “Jena Griswold holds a commanding position in the Attorney General primary because Democratic primary voters know her and like her record of standing up to Trump. Her opponents have yet to register with the electorate in any meaningful way.”

From the polling memo:

Jena Griswold’s profile is head-and-shoulders above her opponents. Griswold is much better known and well-liked than her opponents, with name ID more than three times that of her next closest opponent and very strong net favorability across the electorate.

Griswold has a massive lead in the primary for Attorney General. Griswold has nearly half of the vote while each of her opponents is mired in single digits, leaving Griswold with a 39-point lead over her next closest opponents. That lead has only grown since June, where she led the field by a similarly large margin (Griswold – 42%, Dougherty – 8%, Seligman – 4%, Doshi – 1%), suggesting months of campaigning has not raised her opponents’ profiles in a meaningful way.

There’s not much to add here, except to affirm that Griswold’s dominance in this primary is the product of very high name recognition from years of conflict with Donald Trump, while Griswold’s three otherwise competent and well-qualified opponents chose for whatever reason not to get out of each other’s way to allow for what could have been a more competitive challenge. The result is that Griswold is, barring something unexpected, a shoo-in for the Democratic nomination, then the prohibitive favorite in the general election in November.

If this outcome was not your first choice, the time to do something about it is long past.
