Musgrave Up 10 in New Poll

  • by: Colorado Pols

A new 9News/Survey USA poll shows that Republican Marilyn Musgrave is pulling further ahead of Democrat Angie Paccione in CD-4:

Marilyn Musgrave: 48
Angie Paccione: 38
Eric Eidsness: 10

This is very disappointing news for Paccione, particularly considering how well Reform Party candidate Eric Eidsness is doing; the stage was certainly set for an upset of Musgrave, but it doesn’t appear likely now.

    1. Blue Bronc, from what I hear it’s not even that Angie’s campaign even wants to advertise on Air America, but rather that Angie has an affinity for others who have claimed bankruptcy.

As far as this race is concerned, Pols you almost seem upset that Angie is losing so bad. This is the 2nd poll with her down that much, I figure you guys would have had time to get used to it.

      1. This is just another version of the media, us included.  It’s the race to the victory, not the victory itself that motivates the Dead Guvs and most of us to keep posting.

BTW, you might want to issue an apology to AM760 – they’re not the ones that went Banko.  AM760 is a Clear Channel station, making them as bankrupt as KOA – aka not at all.

Air America filed Chapter 11 to re-arrange their early debt, and is not expected to file Chapter 13; you might as well gripe at Fox News or Rush Limbaugh for failing to make a profit for a decade.

    1.   It’s probably gonna be a 4 to 3 split, Dems over Republicans, at a minimum.  But there’s still a reasonable chance that Doug Lamborn will snatch defeat from the jaws of victory and leave us with 5 Dems to 2 RRRs. You gotta have faith!

  1. Given that his current boss has “come from behind with double-digit deficits” (twice) three weeks before election, he MUST have access to the confidential information/plan that allowed the Congressman to pull that off.

  2. hit Musgrave hard on the “biggest problem facing America is gay marriage” line that Musgrave uttered (or should I say uddered)last month.  Her current hit piece on this is wimpy.  And her ad saying, “Marilyn is lying about my record, so I’ll keep telling the truth about hers” sounds whiney.

She needs to take a lesson from Marilyn about how to do an attack piece–as much as it pains me to say it, Marilyn’s attack piece on the illegal immigration is probably the best attack ad that I’ve seen this year.

I’d duplicate it but use the line “Marilyn is totally out of touch–she thinks that gay marriage is a bigger threat than terrorism”.  She’s out of touch….

I’d hit her on voting herself a pay raise while voting to cut military pay too.  She’s out of touch….

Then I’d hit her on Terri Schiavo. She’s out of touch…

Also, I think it is the Coloradans for Life ad that it attacking Musgrave and Eidness…that is not doing Paccione any good.  They should ignore Eidness and hit Musgrave hard–drive up her negatives and drive down her votes…if they go to Eidness, fine—he is not going to win anyway, but he gives Republican voters who cannot bring themselve to vote for a Democrat somewhere to go (I remember my Mom, a Republican at the time, voting for John Anderson in 1980 becuase she was disgusted by Reagan but could not bring herself to vote for a Democrat).  And why the hell are the talking about clean H2O anyway?  Stryker, Gill, and Polis, you are not getting your $$$ worth with these ads….

    1. Are drinking water regulations the best she can come up with?  Doesn’t Marilyn have a big voting record to slice, dice, and serve up to voters?

      1. The drinking water ad is a 527 ad. Doesn’t mean it doesn’t sucks though.

Angie’s ads have been too weak also. The DCCC ads are not scheduled to start airing until the 27th. They will llikely be strong attack ads (DCCC ads usually are) but I think it will be too little too late, especially since they decided to cut the amount of that ad buy.

      2. Musgrave has a pathetic voting record, way out of touch with many in the district. I vote for slice and dice!!
How about cuts in college tuition aid, or votng to take the claws out of the ethics comittee so DElay could stay as speaker, or taking 5k from  Bob Ney and not giving it back even after he was convicted, or not calling for him to resign his seat as a convicted felon should. Or voting to give oil big tax breaks when they make record profits. People need to have Musgrave defined in a real way by showing how she votes. I didn’t even mention the gay marriage ammendment as a priority.

        1. Too little too late.  I’m sure they could have started three weeks ago with some really damning ads using her voting record, but instead, they play defense.

  3. If Angie is down by ten where is Winter? Is Fawcett ahead or behind? Is Perlmutter up by more than 15? Make your prediction now before the next round of polls are released.

  4. Angie Paccione is not going to Congress.
The DCCC spent $90,000 and Angie has forced the RNCC to spend when all is and done probably $1.5 million. Add to that PAC donations that went to Marilyn that would have gone to other Republicans and Angie is a true hero to the party. Stan Matsunaka did not force the Republicans to do much to save the seat but Angie did. Too bad that she is not going to win but she does deserve the thanks of all Democrats

    1. Paccione is fighting an uphill battle – who isn’t? Check out larimerdems.org for events.

      http://larimerdems.o

Paccione does get first mention, but then what? The assessor candidate?????? Ritter is down the list. Even with Welker and Lundburg with the Reps, the Larimer Dems aren’t the Dumb, they’re the Dumber.

      1. I guess we’ll see, however, I am getting worried about these Flip Flop Bob attacks.  He has nothing positive to say, I guess that is how the Republicans hope to stay in power.

        Pathetic!

This Poll is a Zogby Poll it looks like.

      2. If you look at the Zogby polls they seem to trend a lot closer than others. Between 9/19 and 9/27 when Survey USA and Rasmussen gave Ritter 16 or 17 points Zogby had them within the margin of error with Ritter by 3.

  5. Beware…

The media is controlled by Republicans, and this is the heavy petting period.

    Democrats rule on November 9th.

    Vote your conscience.

This is the most corrupt and dangerous Republican controlled congres in the history of the universe! They are ready to destroy what America stands for….for profit.

    Pure and simple.

    1. Brave Sir Robin ran away

        Sir Robin says – No!
      Bravely ran away, away
      Sir Robin: I didn’t!
When danger reared its ugly head
He bravely turned his tail and fled

      Sir Robin: – No!
Yes, brave Sir Robin turned about
      And gallantly he chickened out
      Bravely taking to his feet
He beat a very brave retreat
Bravest of the brave, Sir Robin

  6. I wish Angie would address a very curious complaint lodged by Rep. Marilyn Musgrave. Rep Musgrave has sat in Washington D.C for the past four years, and from that perch she has lent her opinions to various issues: Veteran’s benefits (cut them), Oil industry (supported them), Pharmaceutical industry (embraced them).  The other issue that Rep. Musgrave has attached herself to is bankruptcy.  Not only did she vote for making it more difficult for her constituents that happen upon hard times to recover from bankruptcy, she seems to have become obsessed with the issue.  I think people within my district should reflect upon the fact that her hateful advertisements towards Representative Paccione also target people within Rep. Musgrave’s own district.  Weld County has the highest percentage of foreclosures in the county.  Is Rep Musgrave telling me not to trust the citizens of my own district. Does she think that the very people that vote for her don’t measure up to her standards.  Rep Musgrave, I don’t think that kind of behaver is very righteous.
