    1. I am beyond not surprised at anything Trump says.

What does continue to baffle me are that there are so many people who are willing to vote for this guy for any office, especially for US President. I just can't understand that and it continues to surprise me.

      1. "What does continue to baffle me are that there are so many people who are willing to vote for this guy for any office, especially for US President. I just can't understand that and it continues to surprise me."

Have you never walked through a Walmart on a Saturday morning?

Call them legion, for they are many.

  1. Trump was always deeply involved with Russia. Josh Marshall at TPM.

The Russian government intervened in the 2016 presidential election to assist Donald Trump. The Trump campaign was repeatedly informed of this assistance, welcomed it, asked for more of it and took numerous affirmative steps to profit from the assistance. While we can never know with certainty, given the closeness of the election there is every reason to believe that that assistance provided Trump with the margin of victory to become President. The fruits of that subversion campaign dominated much of the final months of the election.

    1. I was under the impression that while the Trump campaign did not direct or specifically ask for help from Russia the Trump campaign benefited and knew about the interference.

It's been proven rather convincingly that Trump's campaign did not actively direct Russian interference but to say Trump's campaign has no involvement with Russian interference is flat out wrong.

      1. You forget Trump's public request to the Russians to help "find" Hillary's emails. Shortly thereafter, the Russians began their hacking attacks against the DNC.

That effort was observed in real time by Dutch intelligence since they had hacked into one of the Russian hacking outfits. The Dutch had even hacked the surveillance camera outside the hackers' office, in an office building in Moscow. They observed all sorts of interesting personalities visiting, but not Putin.

      2. The crime boss didn't direct or specifically ask for help (except for that whole "find the emails" statement ).

One of his fixers probably didn't direct or ask for specific help. But others — a campaign chair, a long-time political ally and personal lawyer, foreign policy advisors, fundraisers, donors, and personal connections (including at least one son) had avenues and took actions that sure LOOKED like they were working with Russians or their extensions.

TPM link above summarizes "The Trump campaign was repeatedly informed of this assistance, welcomed it, asked for more of it and took numerous affirmative steps to profit from the assistance. "

VOX:  "Journalists did not in the end find that Trump cut a deal with the Kremlin in 2016, but they unearthed a great deal about Trump and his allies in the process.  Dismissing the whole thing as a hoax or debacle — as the revisionists are doing — is too pat a dismissal. It was a complicated, messy endeavor in a complicated, messy time."

Never Trump folks at The Bulwark: "In the 2016 election, the evidence—a wealth of it—proved Moscow worked assiduously to denigrate the candidacy of Hillary Clinton and promote the candidacy of Donald Trump. The Mueller Report laid it all out, chapter and verse. Though Trump and his supporters continue to this day to deny it, Russian intelligence attempted to manipulate American public opinion through the use of materials it had hacked from the computer systems of the Democratic National Committee. And the Trump campaign, for its part, though never getting caught directly coordinating with Moscow, on numerous occasions both covertly and openly welcomed Moscow’s help. "

    2. Collusion is defined as: secret or illegal cooperation or conspiracy, especially in order to cheat or deceive others.(Collusion is technically not a crime)

It's very apparent that collusion existed between the Trump campaign and Russia.

The Barr DOJ chose not to pursue conspiracy or other criminal charges against Trump.

Trump repeatedly brandished "there was no collusion" as a badge of honor.
