  1. BREAKING NEWS

I am projecting that Chavez-de Reimer will win OR-5 which will give the GOP the 218th seat to take control of the US House.

Now it is just a question how razor thin will their majority be? The races I still show too close to call are:

    CO3

    CA13

    CA47

    NV3

    OR6

In the two California races and in the remaining Oregon, there is too little of the vote counted to make an accurate projection. In CO3, I might be hoping on to hope a little longer than I should, but it's my projections so I can.

    1. Looks like MyKevin is likely to get the gavel. Short of keeping the majority, the next best outcome is McCarthy with a razor thin majority.  It’s going to be a shit show of epic proportions. Buy lots of popcorn and get used to seeing EmptyG over his shoulder in every photo.

        1. Looking forward to POTUS getting bud loads of qualified judges confirmed these next 24 months (Lawd knows they won’t be spending their time on bills from the lower chamber!)

  2. I almost choked on my morning protein when I read Boebert was in the lead.

I’m running low on protein, supply chain problems, I hear there is a good supply in CD3.

  3. Hey veterans… thank you for putting it all on the line for the ideals of democracy.

While we’re sweating the outcome of this particular, possibly decisive, battle for those democratic ideals, there are some bright spots:

Proposition 123 passed. There will be more money for affordable housing in Colorado.

CD8 will be represented by a doctor interested in human health, not fossil fuel profits.

And Herschel Walker, fundraising for the Georgia runoff, claims that the Libertaian votes will all now go to him. Let’s hope not.

    1. Does Herschel understand that “run off “ doesn’t mean the same thing as he did with his kids?

Reading reports that Fat Donnie’s experts don’t want him to announce until after Dec 6. Can you imagine trying to keep a muzzle on this narcissist? The best thing for us would be to have that galaxy brain running all over Georgia with Herschel as a reminder of what we just rejected as a nation.

      1. My guess is finding out what they intend to spend it on pisses off the rest:

The plurality (52%) of applicants say they are ‘very likely’ or ‘likely’ to buy new clothing and accessories with the extra funds they’ll have. Using the money for a vacation (46%) or eating out at restaurants (46%) were also popular answer choices.

Additionally, applicants say they are likely spend the extra money on:

        • Smartphone (44%)
        • Investing in the stock market (43%)
        • Gifts (42%)
        • Gaming system (36%)
        • Wedding (30%)
        • Drugs/Alcohol (28%)
        • Gambling (27%)

Despite the fact that most don’t plan to practice what they preach, 73% do agree using student relief to buy non-essential goods is wrong.

          1. Kind of like trying to stop the electoral college confirmation on 1/6/21? Pear remember ACCURATE target ID is so important before pulling the RHETORICAL trigger.

        1. This is a political issue, not a moral one.

I don’t believe you are in Gen-X, Y or Z, so your opinions regarding the political value of cancelling Student Debt are probably irrelevant.

Likewise Abortion Rights is particularly salient to younger women, a group I don’t think you belong in, either.

          1. Since my tax dollars are going to give these freeloaders a bailout, my views are quite relevant.

And I don't give a rat's ass what generation they happen to fall within.

            1. And if they found a cure for cancer, you'd be pissed off at all those free-loaders who didn't have to go through chemo.

The reason your point of view doesn't matter is that:

              (1) You're an older, Male Republican.
              (2) Gen-X, Y & Z is voting Democratic by 70%.
              (3) Young women are motivated by losing their rights.

In other words, I'll trade the Gen-X, Y and Z vote for yours.

              1. Shows how little you actually know, PH.

I happen to be an unaffiliated voter who voted a straight Democratic ticket last week to express my disdain for the current trajectory of the GOP.

I like the Democratic Party’s stands on cultural and environmental issues but not so much on economic issues. One nice thing about the paper-thin GOP House majority will be that it will shut down the gravy train of free stuff people like AOC and the rest of her Odd Squad are promising people.

Try getting the Gen X, Y and Z’ers to turn out and vote. They don’t regularly. That’s because they don’t have a financial interest in the game yet (i.e., mortgage payments, 401k accounts), so they aren’t motivated.

That’s why us Jurassic-era Baby Boomers turn out every election cycle.

    1. The thing that somehow still astounds me is how dedicated Republicans are to actively making life worse for American citizens. It would be really impressive if it wasn't so rage-inducing.

      1. The thing that astounds me is all the Republican voters who say “Stick it to me again!”

Usually people are a bit more attentive to their own financial interests.

      2. Do you mean like the lack of baby formula, supply chain failure (and yes it still exists), record inflation, real wage decline, illegal immigration, hug-a-thug, homelessness, fuel prices, begging for oil from Iran and Venezuela? The Democrat platform.

        1. Lack of baby formula tracked back to (in main part)

           * FDA concern about food safety — and not being willing to compromise on food contamination.

           * Previous administration's willingness to go along with mergers/takeovers, market concentration be damned.

So, Pear, which "cause" would you be willing to abandon if you could — allowing (serious) illness for some babies or being activist in breaking up corporate concentration?

        2. Talk to Chairman Xi; and his no-COVID lockdown policy; about supply chain failure. The bloated plutocrat CEOs of big business are figuring out how bad it was to put so many suppliers in one country.

          1. I've been seeing stories for weeks that a lot of U.S. manufacturers are rethinking that strategy. Cheap labor abroad may not be worth the headaches when the chain breaks down, which it can for any number of reasons.

    2. When I was going to college, the state paid 77 cents on the dollar.  Now students pay the majority of the cost.  It always baffles me that we can subsidize millionaires with elaborate tax cuts but not our future workforce.  It the kind of screwy culture priorities where Russel Wilson will make a quarter of a billion dollars playing a game and school teachers have to buy supplies for their students.

  4. Abortion Rights in all States for 2024.

    From Rachel Bitecofer:

The American people just sent SCOTUS an amicus brief on Moore v Harper, that's for sure. Are you listening Fed Society?

        1. Cheney for speaker occurred to me when I imagined her winning her primary and ending up being the 218th Republican in the House.

The Dem minority needs to think outside the box on this and not simply and symbolically nominate Hakeem Jeffries or Kathleen Clark as the next speaker.

There are probably going to be a handful of anti-Trump House Republicans:  David Valadao, Nancy Mace, Michael Lawlor (the guy who defeated Sean Patrick Maloney), the guy in Washington state who voted to impeach Trump, and perhaps a couple more.

Why not forge some kind of temporary coalition with them to keep McCarthy (who will kowtow to the screwballs) or Gym Jordan (one of the actual screwballs) from getting the gavel.

And one of the conditions of this arrangement would be that certain frivolous topics are off the table for investigations (i.e., who won the 2020 election, Hunter Biden drug use and sex life, Dr. Fauci) while other stuff might be fair game.

I doubt the Dem caucus would entertain such a deal.

          1. There might be opportunity here. The Dems could agree to trade Dr. Fauci memos in return for Trump's tax returns. That 1924 tax law regarding tax returns of anybody is still on the books.

    1. While she is probably the best qualified for the job, Cheney will not be elected speaker.  But, are there enough sane Republicans in the House to allow for this sort of coalition to avoid a government shutdown or a debt ceiling crisis over the next two years when the freedom caucus has its inevitable tantrums?

        1. Absolutely. And I suspect Biden will be impeached at least three times in 2023-24 if for no other reason than "owning the libs" by pushing Biden past Fat Donny from Queens as the most impeached POTUS.

  5. Worries about abortion probably added 2-3% nationally to the Dem vote. If you didn't have abortion as an issue, but had the normal social division in the US election, I bet you would have seen a Republican majority of 20+ seats in the house and 2-3 seats in the Senate.

    1. I don't know those California districts. Hw well do you know them?

Having said that, for now, I'm seeing a 220-215 R lead. Dems may have had a massive brain fart in New York, losing several districts they should have won.

    2. If Democrats do lose the House, I predict massive Republican infighting with that slim 2-ish vote majority. It's going to be a chaotic circus.

Bright spot: Democrats might even be able to retake the chamber through special elections next year.
