  1. All aid to Ukraine short of war.  Despite savage Russian attacks on civilians, Ukrainian forces continue to defeat ill-trained, ill-motivated, ill-equipped Russian invaders. Stand fast, friends of freedom.

    1. As a gentle reminder: if Fat Donnie’s wingnuts regain power Ukraine’s support from America will be in jeopardy.  Lest we forget the recent prophecy of NewsMax…

    2. McCarthy will side with Putin to kill Ukraine, it’s what Trump, MAGA, and the GQP base demand. “MyKevin” is desperate to hold his power. They'll accept Russian tanks in Kiev, Putin supreme in Europe, and NATO destroyed.

      1. Brilliant. Let's just stop now with these decisive Ukranian victories and lend a hand to a murderous dictator who is a sworn enemy of the West.

        1. Well yes… if you are a Republican, but to them Putin isn't a murderous dictator, he is a bold, manly, Christianist. The Republican Party is now completely taken over by Trumpism.

And we know that Trump is kompromised by Putin.

          1. Yep. They have such an authoritarian hard on for Putin they completely fail to notice he's not their friend. Ditto with Kim Jong Un. Trumpism completely undermines American interests, but let's run around screaming America first and call everyone who disagrees a communist.

    3. Cutoff the sales of machine tools to Russia, and their economy collapses. Also, they won’t be able to make any more nukes.

Russia is completely dependent on imports and Western technology, and not just Germany, although that explains the political difficulty Germany has had in trying not to offend its exporters. There is a recent article that the Russian train repair yards are getting clogged because the switched from locally produced roller-bearing to fancy, more efficient cassette-bearings, produced by Western companies in Russia.

      From: Kamil Galeev

      Repeat after me:
      1. China is not an industrial superpower
      2. Russian military industry is not built on Chinese import
      3. It is built on import from Western Europe, Taiwan and South Korea. That’s it
      4. Russian leadership knows it and thinks China can’t substitute import from (3)

  2. Republicans to cut Social Security and Medicare. From TPM.

This will make our local anti-socialists very happy. All those undeserving old people sucking at the government teat.

We’ve already written a lot in recent months about the near certainty that a Republican House will threaten a national debt default next year to force Joe Biden to essentially undo the legislative agenda he passed in his first two years in office. I didn’t realize that they are apparently focused on major cuts to Social Security and Medicare, or as they are calling it “structural changes” to the two programs. I take this from this morning’s PunchBowl newsletter.

They recognize that it’s dangerous for them to get too specific about what their plans are. But they’re all pretty clear on what they want to cut: Social Security and Medicare. Rep. Jodey Arrington (R-TX) says that if they get too specific about how they want to cut the programs, “this can get so politicized.”

  3. Where I think the Democrats blew it

The Dems should have run on addressing the problems with inflation, crime, & the border. And listed out what they have done and what they are trying to do.

And most importantly, how Republicans have stopped Democrats from moving forward with legislation to effectively address these issues.

Look, I understand when Dems in the past ran away from gay rights and gun legislation – they would lose some elections on those issues.

But I'm pretty sure 99% of Democratic electeds are in favor of lower inflation, less crime, and an effective border. When they run away from those issues or try to change the subject, it makes voters think they are not focused on those issues. Or worse, are in favor of higher inflation, increased crime, & open borders.

    Bit mistake.

    1. Democrats tend to soft pedal their convictions, I agree.

Thank GOD that Republicans aren't running the Country, given the example of the Tories with Brexit, and Liz Truss's supply-side economics. At least here in the US Inflation is much lower than in Europe, and we have plenty of natural resources, both current and future renewables.

    2. Agreed, David.

I attended a DNC-Harris event last night and the VP gave one of the best speeches on not only our accomplishments these past 21 months but why we should remain in control the next two years. I know strong, intelligent women scare the shit out of men like Pfruit, but the VP should be getting more exposure this cycle.

After the event it made me think of some of the possible combinations coming out of Election Day and, for one of them, maybe one of our resident attorneys can answer this question: in the next two years POTUS has a health issue that requires be steps down.  Harris becomes POTUS. We end up with a 50-50 Senate after Election Day with Harris the tie-breaker. New VP requires confirmation of both Houses. Do Mitch and MyKevin make a pact to refuse to confirm and we remain deadlocked (judicial confirmations in particular)) in the upper chamber. I don’t think there’s anything constitutionally that forces either leader to confirm?

        1. I understand that intelligent, fierce-spirited women, particularly those of color, scare the shit out of guys like you, Pfruit. That doesn’t diminish any of the attributes of VPOTUS just because an old curmudgeon like you says so. Unfortunately we still have enough creepy mysogeny lingering from your generation that I’m not naive to the fact electing a woman POTUS will continue to be a Herculean effort for the foreseeable future.

        2. I'm not a fan of Harris. But she's better than Mike Pence ever was, Pear.

Only thing of note Pence did in his term; and I give him credit; was certifying the election in January, 2021. But he had to be told to follow the Constitution, not Trump, by former vice-president, and fellow Hoosier, Dan Quayle.

      1. Thank you – yes!

And another thing, a lot of the marketing the Democrats do is ineffective. Granted the Republicans do the same ineffective stuff so it remains an even match.

But would it be that bad if we did a lot more effective job campaigning???

    3. “But I'm pretty sure 99% of Democratic electeds are in favor of lower inflation, less crime, and an effective border. ”

You are very very naive. Of course Democrats support over the top spending, no bail, defund the police and open southern border. Voter know it any you should too.

      1. Hey look – I'm willing to treat you as a thoughtful guy with a very different philosophy from me. But I ask the same as you.

Most Democrats differ from your views philosophically big time. But that does not mean they are in favor of the wild-ass bullshit that Fox News and others throw out there.

No bail has support of maybe 2 – 3%. No one credible is supporting defund the police. Many support putting more effort into mental health professionals and social workers for some police calls, but most cops support that too.

And I'll grant you that a sizeable minority of Dems are not willing to be hard-ass on the border. But it's a minority, not 99%.

If you're willing to acknowledge that we Dems may differ but are not the crazies that Fox News paints, then I'm willing to continue reasonable discourse with you.

But if you want to paint these 2 dimensional portraits of those you disagree with, then there's no point in having a conversation.

        1. Davidthi808. Thanks for the invitation of reasonable discourse. I accept.

I don’t know how long you have been on this site. It is populated by hard core activist intent on pressing any agenda put forth by the Democrat party. If you post an opposing view point, well you know what happens.

I’ve been called every nasty name you can imagine. And it really doesn’t matter to me. I take pleasure in spinning up the KOOKS that populate this site. So that is why I am the most beloved troll.

Your point about no bail. The percentage doesn’t matter it’s who has the power to make the impact. NY State has an outsized impact because of the populating size as does IL and CA. Small percentage of states big impact on justice.

No one credible supports defunding the police, which means 95% of the posters on this site have no creditably. The “Squad” and other angry voices power the meek Democrats to shut up. You probably don’t know this, a member of the RTD board of directors put forth a resolution to remove all of the transit police from the organization. The angry hug a thug movement is deep into society with people in elected positions. When someone pulls a knife or a gun, I what a cop not a therapist.

If the other media covered new stories without bias that would be great for America, but they don’t. The main stream media is not main stream, it is Democrat, Socialist and un American. I’m sure your remember the 16 intelligence services, the 17 Nobel laureates, the 51 intelligence officials, used as sell group think by low information (morons) voters, too lazy to find information for themselves.

Forgive me when I revert to my Troll self in responses to MichaelBlowman, R&R, DukeCox, KWtree, runner up to the most interesting man, my buddy Voyager, and the other KOOKS.

          Roger

          1. Pear, thanks for including me in your “kook” category. That said, I know you’ve never learned how to handle me on this site. As a classic, common sense, libertarian leaning, conservative, I reserve the right to point out your shortcomings as a wanna-be conservative (Trump supporter?? Really?? the corrupt con-man grifter himself??). Have a great day!

p.s. to live up to the title you’ve bestowed on me, I’ll suggest opening your vistas by a bit of traveling. Consider the most advanced country in South America for a visit, and the home of the Latin American Riviera; Uruguay. You’ll like Montevideo (I was there in April, 2016). Hit the beach at Punta del Este.

            1. Be proud of your title. Your world travels and multilingual abilities put you way way ahead of the other PolCat minions.

Let me suggest some places to visit. Wake Island, Saigon, Da Nang, Hue, Can Tho, DMZ, Cambodia, Sidney Australia Bangkok.

Question; do women shit by the side of the road in Punta del Este?

PolCats wouldn’t be the same without you.

              1. Been to Bangkok and Sydney. Look on You Tube for the musical, "Chess," with Murray Head singing "One Night in Bangkok.

Yes, there are bathrooms everywhere in Uruguay, just like in the US. Not so much so in Bolivia, a place well worth visiting, but best to go with an outfitter from LaPaz.

Copacabana on Lake Titicaca; the original Copa before the beach at Rio and the Barry Manilow song; is on the South American backpackers circuit.

            2. In this time of national turmoil everyone should have a Rwanda stamp in their passport. The genocide there was driven by shock jock hate radio, our version of Alex Jones. The water boarding of the radio waves there convinced one-half the country to hate the other half. Stand in the Catholic church where the nuns and children were gunned down or the wall of skulls that were split with a machete.  Feel the weight of the human tragedy in the Kigali museum. Only then can you fully appreciate my disdain for what’s happening here. What is old is once again new.
