And I’ll guarantee as recently as 3 hours ago the odds of me ever saying that would have been a trillion to one.
But Kaminski wrote a piece in the conservative rag American Spectator that was both somewhat accurate substantively and in praise of a woman that took a seemingly principled stand yesterday, BJ Nikkel.
While Kaminski couldn’t resist some cheap shots, aimed at Tim Gill and Representative Polis, the FDR policies that most Democrats respect as what built the middle class, and the cause of basic human rights in general, he did strike a chord of civility.
Whatever motivated this is, for now, not as prescient as the fact that he did it.
This is the second example in the last 3 days that seemingly indicates (possibly) that the winds of change are affecting republican rhetoric.
Wednesday night I channel surfed the radio while coming home from a Democratic volunteer event.
Joe Lanier, an African American United States Navy World War 2 Seabee was on 850 KOA.
Michael Brown, the failed red Undersecretary of FEMA in the Bush Administration and host at that hour, was interviewing Mr. Lanier about his experiences in a segregated Military vs. a desegregated Military.
Brown dropped no racial, political, or partisan bombs, and was actually respectful of Mr. Lanier.
Not that Brown’s not the intolerant conservative ideologue that he was before the show, or that Kaminski’s any less the loon he was yesterday, but I’m thinking republican shills, talking heads, misinformers, and even politicians are seeing that maybe………just maybe….,,mean and nasty just doesn’t play that well right now.
There’s no way I’m going to test that suspicion out by listening to caplis. That’s nausia that nobody should have to endure.

Gov. Schweitzer and Lt. Gov. John Bohlinger (R) show unity in support of Citizen initiative I-166. Stand With Montanans is working to get on an initiative on the Nov 2012 ballot to codify the policy of the State of Montana that corporations are not people and money is not speech. The initiative would also direct Montana’s State & Federal representatives to work to nullify the U.S. Supreme Court ruling on Citizens United vs FEC.
Now unless they are true hypocrites you’d think Libertarians, TeaBaggers, and State’s Right firsters would be out in front stoking this prairie fire. Montana has the Corrupt Practices Act from 1912 that was signed to keep the money from robber barons out of government. Their bad experiences with the nefarious influence of “corporate” money caused them to enact & curtail the corruption 100 years ago. But due to the Robert’s court decision Montana’s 1912 law would be partially invalidated by Citizens United. Now one would think that all these righties up in arms over federally mandated Healthcare Reform vs. State rights gotta be on Montana’s side — right?
Late in 2011 the Montana Supreme Court found that the state’s unique history of corruption involving the early 20th-century mining barons requires upholding Montana’s Corrupt Practices Act. More specifically, the state prohibits corporate expenditures independent of candidates and parties and now MT has the Western Tradition Partnership v. Bullock challenge before SCOTUS re: the Citizens United decision.
I’m a big fan of Gov. Schweitzer and would love to see him replace Biden for 2012 or on the 2016 ticket.

“(Any bills referred to committee will be heard at this time)”
House Calendar shows it “Upon Adjournment,” Audio-Video page for Finance committee shows it at 1:30.
It’s being slipped under the radar.
So he’s either being as forthright as possible, or you’re right and it’s to kill the bill as quickly and quietly as possible. Could be the former. Could be. <–I’m keeping the faith today. Just watch me. 🙂
