Did I mention that Trump stinks?

  2. ParkHill says:

It CAN happen here: "Australia confiscated 650,000 guns. Murders and suicides plummeted."

The gun fetish is a political choice by Conservatives and the Republican Party. In order to change the Republican Party needs to be thrown out of power, and the radicals on the right-wing Supreme Court removed.

    Then we can have change.

Quasi-Quoted: Things they might have said

“Sit down, Mr. O’Rourke. You are an embarrassment. This is our political moment, not yours.”

    Texas Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick

And The Onion, recycling their classic:

‘No Way To Prevent This,’ Says Only Nation Where This Regularly Happens"

UVALDE, TX—In the hours following a violent rampage in Texas in which a lone attacker killed at least 21 individuals and injured several others, citizens living in the only country where this kind of mass killing routinely occurs reportedly concluded Tuesday that there was no way to prevent the massacre from taking place. “

We will know if "Jena Griswold…run for governor in 4 years." if she takes voice lessons. Cf. Kathy Ireland.

Tried to comment on your blog, David, but it won’t show. Maybe you have to approve?

Anyway, I think you’re underestimating Joe Neguse. He can go on to Senator, Governor, whatever…he’s that good. If you’ve ever seen Joe rouse a bunch of bored, tired Democrats, you know what I mean.

There is no political pressure to enact gun control (don't shoot the messenger). The only way we get this is if enough Republican leaders get out front and lead on this – selling their constituents for the need to do more. And as we've seen, political courage is pretty much gone on the Republican side (not that the Democratic side can do that much bragging about courage).

    • Thorntonite says:

Not going to happen.  I think most of us resigned ourselves to that following the lack of action after Sandy Hook.

      • Lauren Boebert is a Worthless POS says:

Exactly. After Sandy Hook, I came to the conclusion that there are no circumstances under which any kind of meaning gun control will occur in this country.

By the way, it is about to get a lot more difficult than it has been to date. The Supreme Court is likely to do to gun safety legislation what it is doing to the constitutional right to privacy in reproductive choice.

I would not be surprised if The Five issue a sweeping Second Amendment Is Sacred Scripture in that New York state concealed carry case.

I suppose in light of the latest rounds of thoughts & prayers, they’ve given some thought to toning down the Sturm und Drang, ruling in favor of gun rights, and deferring to another day the more sweeping pronouncements.

There is a good chance that whatever gun control measure eventually may pass a Democratic Congress and may be signed by a Democratic President will be tossed as unconstitutional by The Five.

So, as with most of our unsolved problems these days, the solution is to vote Republicans out of office.

Tweet of the day from Megan Menchaca @meganmmenchaca

A mom of two children at Uvalde was put in handcuffs after urging police and law enforcement to enter the school. Once freed from her cuffs, she jumped the school fence, ran inside and sprinted out with her kids.

    New from @WSJ: https://wsj.com/articles/uvalde-residents-voice-frustration-over-shooting-response-11653588161

Not to mention: She heard about the shooting, was able to drive 40 miles, plead with police, get hand-cuffed, get un-cuffed, jump the school fence, run inside and rescue her children while police sat around waiting for backup and listening to children get murdered.
