Passing this along to my fellow polsters – The application deadline for Black Roots: New Media BootCamp is this Friday, October 14.

Email from New Organizing Institute

This fall and winter, we’re offering a series of BootCamps aimed at expanding diversity in online organizing and building capacity in critical fights.

We’re proud to announce the first training in this series, Black Roots: New Media BootCamp, November 12-19, 2011, in Washington DC.

Black Roots: New Media BootCamp is designed both to train organizers of color, and to help social-change organizations and organizers working in predominantly black communities develop the skills to create winning online campaigns. Black communities have been disproportionately affected by the economic crisis, and face the brunt of an onslaught of conservative legislation. We hope to support those standing up for change in these communities by providing this training.

Whether you’re an organizer looking to expand your skills and find new work, or an organization looking to build your staff capacity, we hope you’ll apply to attend this training. You’ll learn cutting edge digital strategies, build your technical knowledge, and develop new alliances with organizers from around the country.

Apply for Black Roots: New Media BootCamp now!

Diversity isn’t just a buzzword. To succeed as a movement, we need organizers with a broad array of perspectives and backgrounds in every organization, and we need every organization to have skilled organizers capable of running powerful programs.

We hope you’ll apply to join us at Black Roots: New Media BootCamp,

Kwesi Chappin

Campaigns Director

  1. Kudos to all who started it and run it. I have a hunch I know some of them.

People of color should also look into the Center for Progressive Leadership Fellowship program. It’s a great place to start or advance a career in progressive politics.
