  1. Happy birthday and many happy returns to notaskinnycook! skinny's boithday presink – contrary to the prediction of the increasing unhinged MyPillow Guy, Joe Biden and Kamala Harris will not be quitting their jobs today.

    Also, first.

    1. Happy birthday, cook! How many times has your birthday fallen on a  Friday 13? Any correlation to bad or good “luck”? Wishing you good luck today…

    2. Oh, yeah. Today is the day the Supremes are going to vote 9-0 to imprison Biden and the Dems and make Fat Donnie king for life.

      It is today

      ..right?

    3. Skinny:

Happy birthday!! and…thanks for continuing to be one of the sanest voices on this site.

      We love you…

…and would you give Karen a  hug for me, too. It has been far too long since I have seen you. Hopes for a splendid day of celebration!

        1. Two of my brothers are natural lefties. They made the older one switch, ’til he broke his right arm. But, since he’d learned to use his right, he’s fully ambidextrous. By the time the younger one came along, they’d stopped telling parents and teachers to try switching them. He’s perfectly happy being a lefty.

          1. My Dad, too, was ambidextrous. Never knew which way he would bat and throw. He hated sports.I don't ever remember him throwing anything except a tantrum.😏

        2. The nuns did not tolerate left-handed children. Through the generous use of ruler slaps on my fingers when I dared pick up a pencil with my left hand, I was “converted'' to writing right-handed. It gave me a chicken scratch imitation of penmanship that dogs me today. On the bright side, unlike most reporters, I didn't lose a wink of sleep about a cop, prosecutor, judge or even a competitor looking over my notes.

It turned me into an ambidextrous creature and has aided my golf game immensely because my left arm and hand are much stronger and better guided than my right. My aim is better and my distance longer. Alas, I remain puzzled by the art of putting.

          1. Between us, we might make a golfer. I am pretty good at chipping and putting, but I couldn’t drive a ball in a straight line if Reppy le Pew-Pew threatened me with a pork slider.😵

            I stick to horseshoes.😉

          2. My experience almost exactly. The "ruler" tended to be a yardstick because Sister Mary needed to extend her reach to compensate for her lack of mobility.

  2. Can we just take a second to acknowledge the MLB game in the middle of the cornfield?? It’s a great day for America and agriculture (although I might suggest next year they plant hemp. After all, it was the crop of our Founding Fathers). 🌱

    1. I say the re-vamp of the MLB game ought to go all the way … taking place in a field of marijuana plants could make for a really, REALLY strong "Field of Dreams."

    1. From that linked article … I found the overall status list surprising.   Colorado's employment in the sector is larger than several others.  The top 10:

      • Texas — 306,800, +9,740 jobs
      • Louisiana  — 52,580, +1,670
      • Oklahoma  — 47,920, +1,520
      • Colorado  — 25,570, +810
      • New Mexico  — 23,550, +750
      • California  — 23,050, +730
      • Pennsylvania  — 22,800, +720
      • North Dakota  — 19,580, +620
      • Wyoming  — 14,600, +460
      • Ohio  — 10,450, +330
      1. The CHB-splain is easier. The larger amount of jobs O & G lists in their media campaigns is a result of economic multipliers. Meaning, an accountant is counted if she has several O & G clients; out of several dozen.

KW-TREE also explained this in a similar way perhaps a couple years ago.

    2. It's all very simple:

When the price of oil falls and workers are laid off in the oil patch, it's the Democrats' fault.

When the price of oil rises and people pay more at the gas pump, it's the Democrats' fault.

  3. Thanks for all the birthday wishes, everyone. It was a pleasantly low-key day. Definitely an improvement over last year. I got a bunch of new smart-ass t-shirts. I'll have to wear one to the next meet-up, whenever that might be.
