Excellent call.
Thanks for the link, Michael.
Maybe voting reform isn’t dead just yet:
Inside Biden and Manchin's Joemance
Jonathon V. Last, at the Bulwark, writes about the voting reforms/election laws.
Nice idea, but it absolutely matters if Manchin has spit on this legislation. Without him, no voting rights legislation will pass, and he’s insisted he will not vote for any legislation unless the Republicans support it.
That’s what the Polyannas don’t get. This isn’t a question of tact. Manchin was warning us that he won’t vote for anything of ours unless McConnell supports it. Anyone who says otherwise simply doesn’t want to see it.
And, since Moscow Mitch told us his top priority was stopping the Democrats, is it possible that Joe is happy being an obvious tool? It looks that way.
Manchin supports the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act. Lisa Murkowski has advised she also supports it.
The ACLU opposes some of the campaign finance provisions in HR 1.
Today is National Strawberry-Rhubarb Pie Day
the quote de jour “Insanity is knowing that what you’re doing is completely idiotic, but still, somehow, you just can’t stop it.” …
This afternoon, I read something which made me wonder: If a person or group of people is NOT able to know the action is idiotic … what do you call it?
Bye-bye Keystone pipeline.You were never a good idea: https://thehill.com/policy/energy-environment/557645-company-officially-nixes-keystone-xl-pipeline
Yay!🙂
Bravo!! Now, let’s turn that steel pipe towards the heavens and get serious about climate change…and American jobs.
Unfortunately, replacing the Enbridge pipe in Wisconsin ( and the protests against it) are still ongoing. The plan is to carry Canadian tar sands oil through Wisconsin. As usual, the project is on Native American lands and threatens the health and environment of Indigenous people.
