Recent job and copols password change makes it almost impossible to be here.
Long story short- I created MADCO on the original Pols site, migrated as necessary. I may have allowed another to login and post as MADCO for a time.

The Big Lie is that the election was stolen from Trump. Rep. Tim Ryan -OH suggested there be a bicameral resolution simply stating that Joe Biden won the election fair and square. That would remove the fig leaf from some members who didn’t want to vote for impeachment. It might help to deny the Big Lie, or at least identify those who are still anti-American (see: QBert, Buck, Lamborn).
I like this idea. Let’s promote it to our Congresspeople.
It’s a good thing that Ryan didn’t win the nomination.
Decent guy with decent policy positions but this one sucks.
We already know what he wants to show that we know.
The impeachment vote in the House is a suitable proxy for what he wants to expose. There will be a vote in the Senate soon.
Voila. We know who the seditionists are. Charge them or campaign against them. But the seditionist sentiments will not disappear until the voting public starts to change and they stop voting to put seditionists in the legislatures at fed, state and local levels.
Lets hear ideas about how to sway the tide of the public against trumpism.
It does seem like it’s a waste of time, but unfortunately it’s probably the most consequential action that the Congress could take in its history. Just turn on Fox News, for example, to see that the Big Lie is still being spread nonstop. Another advantage of a vote would be to cleave the GOP.
Even in the workplace the best way to win the contest of ideas is to let the other side think that your idea was theirs. Tearing them and their ideas down by exposure and ridicule just hardens attitudes.
Ryan is fully invested in hardened ideas so that's his hammer and the seditionists are the nail.
Keep talking about the big lie but chip away at it until the voters catch on that they've been lied to.
Ryan wants a quick fix. This restoration will outlast his political career.

Before jumping into the fray let's take time to interview all of the people who've been arrested. Let's see if they start to denounce the big lie.
I'd rather have a small army of converts out there dismissing the big lie than a hundred Tim Ryans.

Kickshot, I can't respond to your question on the other thread because it's done, but to answer your question I got put in the penalty box for some pretty personal insults and name calling.
Hard to imagine that they were worse than what's been aimed at me.
I'm not complaining. I want to take that dialog private and have it out w/my harasser. He doesn't seem game.

In the wake of the assault of Trump's seditious mob on our Capitol questions arise about how to address the event and restore our democracy to its former position of magnificence in the eyes of every citizen of this nation and of the world.
The growth of anti-government sentiment stretches back to well before the Viet Nam war according to Kathleen Belew's 'Bring the War Home'. It rose and fell from visibility but really reared its ugly head in the 1995 Oklahoma City bombing. Belew makes the point that even though some wanted to pass that off as a lone wolf incident, it was really just a continuation. McVeigh associated with many of the seditionists active in the 1970s.
1/6 was another crest in that wave and it may continue at an elevated level for quite some time.
The arrests for participation in Trump's mob riot are mounting. They need to continue and we need to gather information from each seditionist about how and why they were compelled to participate. From that collection of experience we should be able to pull together the threads that lead to sedition. We should also be able to see how each story might have been turned in a better direction before these seditionists became committed enemies of the state.
This can form the basis of a campaign against the disinformation that has driven so much of our current turmoil. When the seditionists see and hear reflections on behavior that may be like their own and they see that it looks salvageble under the light of truth that can lead to a change.
Similar methods have been applied to former jihadists and I suggest that things are not that different here.
