Elena Kagan has been confirmed by the Senate as the next member of the Supreme Court. Both Colorado Senators, Mark Udall and Michael Bennet, voted in favor of Kagan’s confirmation.

If Romanoff hadn’t gotten into the Senate race.
I just know it.
Bennet didn’t support her until AFTER Romanoff challenged him in the primary.
Romanoff wouldn’t have voted to confirm her because she’s not far enough to the left? The MSM keeps describing him as the challenge from the left so it must be true. He must really be a lefty. Who knew?
Or something.
..but now I’m the crazy old lady who laughs alone in her house.
and damn if vidalia onions don’t make my feet stink.
the lone Democrat (?) to vote against her nomination. WTF Ben?
Susan Collins and Olympia Snowe!
The GOP 5 who voted yes. So Nelson is to the right of Graham now?
Well, no, but at least he’s working on it.
for acting responsibly and rationally and not being a total do-nothing obstructionist asshole like everyone else.
We don’t get things done in Washington because we punish those who do (at least in South Carolina).
The Republican base is working to destroy the concept of working together to make things better. A lot of them seem to be nihilists.
We’ll take Snowe and Graham, and they can have Nelson and Lieberman in exchange.
(I wonder what we could get for Harry Reid?)
Defeated incumbent, R-SC Rep Bob Ingliss, a guy with a 93 percent lifetime rating from the American Conservative Union found that out when, during the primary campaign, he couldn’t hide his what the hell are you people talking about face when constituents told him stuff like this. It’s already been posted but it’s good enough for a second run:
meh
…but if they truly responded with indifference (or whatever bland emotion you attempted to convey) to this history news, the masses are stupid. Not that this is a new revelation.
I hope to see a real Progressive Justice before I am gone. I feel very sure that Obama will never nominate anyone who believes LGBT people are equal to everyone else in all aspects including marriage.
Given that she is replacing Justice Stevens, Justice Kagan has actually moved the court to the right.
Until she starts issuing opinions and voting as a Supreme Court justice, we have no idea where she’ll ultimately wind up compared to Stevens.
…gone on record as supporting gay marriage?
his record on economic issues would seem to indicate a more liberal bent than Kagan.
..that Kagan doesn’t feel that way about LGBT people?
to play softball already already has a lot of Republicans convinced.
Kagan’s Confirmation only goes to swell the conservatives disdain for the judicial branch as a whole.
She will have a tough row to hoe in proving she is unbiased. But then again I really can’t wait to hear the RW sing her praises when she rules in their favor. (if only to prove she is unbiased)
She’s confirmed. The right-wingers can sit and spin on her decisions at this point.
We don’t expect Alito, Thomas, or Scalia to be unbiased, do we?
….most Repubs would be astounded at how non-political most of the Federal Judges are.
Now that I type that, that’s probably their problem with the Judiciary…didn’t Dubya and the Repubs campaign in 2004 on MORE CONSERVATIVE JUDGES?
I saw one bumper sticker on one gigantic SUV several months ago, and that was it.
I always pictured Andrews as driving a VW bug (circa 1972), or maybe a mini-cooper.
Not possible.
Let’s see how long Ruth can hold on; it would be interesting to see if having 3 women on the court changes the dynamic in some significant way
For sure, they can bring changes.
Next time I’d like to see a non-Ivy League westerner, any gender, any color, any religion.
