We forgot to post this last week…
Republican Doug Lamborn, one of a number of candidates running for congress in CD-5, announced last week that Club for Growth is aggressively raising money to aid his campaign. Click below for the full press release…
State Senator Doug Lamborn has received word from supporters all around the country this week that Club for Growth has begun an aggressive fundraising program to aid his campaign in Colorado?s 5th Congressional District.
Described by the Washington Times as ?A powerhouse Republican advocacy group?? the Club for Growth?s record in Congressional GOP Primaries this year is an impressive 6 and 1.? Last cycle Club for Growth members donated over $9 million to conservative candidates like Senator Lamborn and the Club for Growth PAC helped elect sixteen new Members of Congress.
?Already my campaign has seen thousands of dollars roll in from fellow conservatives who know I am the only candidate in this race with the proven experience to go to Washington and fight the tax-and-spend liberals,? stated Lamborn.
A Club for Growth fundraising letter (see attached), presumably mailed to their 35,000 nation-wide membership base, points out the ?stark contrast? between Senator Lamborn and his more liberal challengers.
?Others in this race claim to be conservative but their past records reveal just the opposite.? With me voters know they are getting a real conservative and they don?t have to rely on the flowery campaign rhetoric that my opponents allege,? stated Lamborn.
?I believe supporters are rushing to help my campaign because of my proven leadership to fight for tax and spending reduction, military and veteran concerns, illegal immigration reform, and the rights of the unborn,? continued Lamborn.
With little more that a month and a half before early voting begins for the August 8th Primary election, the donations from Club for Growth members are arriving at just the right time to help Senator Lamborn win election to Congress.
?With my corps of grassroots volunteers already laying the ground work throughout the district, this influx of donations will mean I can finish the race in a strong position to get my message of proven conservative leadership to every voter,? concluded Lamborn.

I was pretty shocked by the news article in the Gazette last week about this. Bremer pretty well slammed Lamborn for misrepresenting his record. When I saw what Lamborn actually said, I think Bremer has a legit beef with him. There is some wiggle room for spin in politics, but Lamborn stepped over the line on that and he really should retract his statements about Bremer’s record. He really gave up any moral high ground that he had in exchange for money and I was pretty disappointed with that.
I think that the CFG probably was stupid to get into this race, but I would not be surprised if Lamborn cut a deal with them to give back after the election or fundraise for them. I gather Crank has been pretty pissed at this as well because he thought he would at least keep them out of the race.
Everybody in this race is a liberal except Lamborn, Whatever!
Crank is a liberal?
LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL!!!!!
That’s about the stupidest lie I’ve heard recently.
So does Google lie too??
From Gazette, 9-7-01, regarding property tax increase:
“I think it’s a good investment for the public, but I don’t think there’s a good sales force out there to sell it,” said Commissioner Duncan Bremer.
“When the public is ready to tax themselves to improve the roads, we’ll put it on the ballot. That hasn’t happened yet.”
Sure sounds like he’s a tax hiker to me and any other honest person.
But still not quite as big of tax-hikers as Anderson, Rivera, and Crank……. you guys out to run for Congress in Boulder.
I think only one person in this race has signed a pledge never to vote for tax increase as cd-5 Congressman, and it is not Lamborn.
Seems like a clear cut case of revenge of the Schafferites to me…
Pat Toomey is the President of Club for Growth right? Does anyone remember him coming out here to Colorado in 2004 in support of his old buddy Bob Schaffer? He did a fund raiser for Schaffer here in Douglas.
The week before Hefley and Crank had endorsed Coors, whereas who happened to be the one hosting the fund raiser in El Paso that Toomey spoke at? You guessed it, our old buddy Doug Lamborn. Given Crank’s support for Ref C, I don’t think this decision surprises anyone.
Sounds like the CFG endorsement is a clear cut case of revenge of the Schafferites to me…
Pat Toomey is President of Club for Growth right? Does anyone remember when he came out to Colorado in 2004 to stump for his old buddy Bob Schaffer? They had an event here in Douglas County and one in El Paso. Anyone want to guess who hosted the El Paso event? That’s right, Doug Lamborn.
The week before Jeff Crank and Hefley endorsed Pete Coors.
I guess paybacks are a bitch.
Lamborn did not show up, or have any represenatives for his campaign at the Lake County Lincoln Day Dinner. He must be betting that he can outspend his opposition in El Paso on media buys, and ignore the provinces. Does anyone think he can outspend everyone else on ad time?
Conservative hero/Doug Bruce, do you even read what you’ve cut and pasted?
Those quotes make Bremer look like a person who would only support a tax IF the public WANTED it.
Man, if you’re going to engage in black propaganda, you’ll have to get better at it than that example. That was pathetic.
Lamborn is going to have a hard time raising money from Club for Growth when all of their Colorado members are supporting Crank, including the Colorado Club for Growth chairman Bill Miller.
Conservative Hero (more like libertarian zero),
I would strongly urge you to go back and read the Constitution. Its pretty interesting and a good read. You will find out that the government has certain tasks it must accomplish and those tasks can not be done for free. Therefore, the government it allowed to tax the people to accomplish those tasks.
What I am getting at is that you people who think that any tax imposed by the government is immoral are really out to lunch. Even in biblical times, imposing a tax by the government was considered just. What you need to look at is where that money goes an how much money the government spends.
Bremer has a much stronger record than Lamborn on creating efficiency within government. On several incidences, he apparently sent issues to the voters to decide if they wanted to pay higher taxes for jails or roads and such. Those are inherent functions of a properly functioning conservative government, but he still gave the voters the voice on the matter.
You are quite an extremist if you think that sending an issue to the voters is the same as a career politician imposing his will onto the people.
RockyMtnRep,
When I was doing some Googling on Bremer, I ran into his taxpayer pledge that he signed a few months ago. Apparently he did not advertise it much, did another candidate also sign the pledge?
Robert, Crank has made the pledge that he will never vote for a tax increase while in congress. I did not know that Duncan did a similiar thing by signing a pledge. Thanks for setting the record straight.
Hey Robert,
Aren’t real conservatives supposed to protect people from higher taxes and not inflict them upon us??
Good luck with your lame arguement.
Also:
Crank can sign all the papers we wants but who’s gonna believe him when he has supported so many other tax hikes in the past? I can’t believe you guys are trying to get away with reinventing your liberal local lobbyist Jeff Crank.
Good luck.
Conservative Hero,
Liberals believe that politicians should “protect” the stupid citizens who are too dumb to know what is best for them. Conservatives believe that citizens are capable of self government and allow citizens to run the government.
Bremer did not try to “inflict” higher taxes on anyone, he let the people decide for themselves if they wanted to pay more taxes in exchange for certain specific government provided goods.
Your argument is the same that liberal judges use to push gay marriage and abortion. People are too stupid to vote correctly so professional government folks should decide for them what is best. Your views are right out of liberal play books.
