According to a press advisory, Republican gubernatorial candidate Marc Holtzman will deliver nearly 20,000 petition signatures to the Colorado Secretary of State’s office tomorrow afternoon.

That’s like $100,000!
Daddy has plenty to cover the cost.
a lot of those were collected by volunteers, which means they were free, morons.
looks like you establishment types are fucked.
Who really cares if MH gets on the ballot?? Neither Republican candidate is worthy. I’m not sure Bill Ritter is either.
Partisan politics are destroying this state, not building it.
WOOHOO! Way to go Marc!!! So happy to hear it! Regardless of who worked or volunteered to get the sigs!
Somebody is touchy. You’ll be voting for BB in the end. You’ll see.
Dtrain, don’t know who you were referring to, but truly, I don’t feel that BB could fairly go against a dem. He doesn’t have what it takes and is a good example of why “Fencitarians” are sketchy about cmmitting to the Repubican party.
LR, I was typing about ‘morons’.
BB may have gen election problems, but MH has any election problems. No chance
Hmmmm, sorry you feel that way. I just feel that an educated, worldly fellow has a better chance than a Complete Right-Wing, Christian fanatic. Especially with those who are scared off by the fanatical beliefs held by many republicans. We need to realize that in order to get more supporters of republican ideals and morale, we need to let off a little where the religion is concerned. Especially in this society!
Are those 20,000 real signatures, or will they turn out to be as substantial as the stolen rolodex?
Those who steal from other countries are considered “worldly?” Does that make the village idiot from Texas worldly as well?
Divisive, lies to the media, loses every campaign, viewed as slimy, plays the Reagan card and gets outed. Those items don’t play well.
Bwahahahahahahaha! Pettiness, really, c’mon people. The MH campaign was already prepared to go through this process before the past weekend. They are most definately as authentic as they come. It all boils down to who has whom in whose pocket.
Curious Bob, MH isn’t exactly whom I consider “worldly”, I’m just saying, he has travelled, been around and many people may put him in a better light than a “Dairy Farmer” from Colorado. Not that I don’t value being a native. I’m just trying to point out that our society is rapidly changing and I, being of a younger generation, know many of the brain processes in which my peers operate, how they feel, etc…
In the end, everyone here will choose between BB and a quasi pro life lib. Everyone knows it.
Unfortunately, you may be right. Until then, I (along with others)will do what I can to help provide us with one more choice.
That is your choice, no matter how damaging.
The beauty of being an American! CHOICE!!!!! 😉
Lib. Republican: I also agree with you. I think there should be another choice besides the potato queen that the Benson/Owens wing of the party puts up for us to vote for.
….or is that 20,000 figure more spin from Dick Leggitt?
Dtrain,
So your only criteria for voting for a governor is Pro Life? That’s a very narrow criteria for someone who will be able to affect Coloradan’s lives in so many other way. You a single issue (my only issue is abortion) voter? IF so my respect for you is not as high as it was. We conservative have many more issues than that.
20,000, It does not matter to me who was paid to collect them. The real message is that equals 20,000 people who want this primary. Sorry to spoil your little party there Bobby boy, but put bluntly, you are screwed.
True, especially as there are so many republicans out there supporting abortion rights within limits! The republican party is changing, once rid of all the nonsense, I can only hope for the better! And abortion has been around since the beginning of time regardless of “Men’s” opinions. Sorry boys!
well it will be good to see that the grassroots values of this state are thrown out the window by the boy from the north east Marc Holtzman and his beast “the bus”. Good luck abusing the state you wish you were lucky enough to be from, marc. Good Luck to the Beauprez campaign in destroying this soulless candidate in August.
I just do not, for the life of me understand how 20,000 signatures equals anything less than grassroots. Please explain how 20,000 willing signers, paid or unpaid no one was forced to sign, somehow is disrespecting the grassroots. Beauprez’s stacked delegate votes are grassroots to you but 20,000 signatures is just dust inn the wind. Face it, people are pissed and want to overthrow the Delay’s the Bush’s the Hastert’s and the Beauprez’s. You are finished. We gave them a good chance, they screwed it up by ignoring the grassroots and now they will pay the price.
The Bus?!?!? You people are as disgusting as the liberals (assuming you are not one), nasty name-bashing based on one’s body type. Thats horrible!
Marc is going to drive the short bus over the cliff, heedless of the warning signs that the road is out.
Hilarous that BB is supported by Tom Tancredo. Proves that deep down they’re both just in it for the bucks. I think Holtzman’s a geek – “Look at me guys, here I am in my high school yearbook standing next to Ronald Reagan!” – but at least he’s got some ideas and passion. The only pol who’d be more lifeless and empty than BB as governor would be Wayne Dullard.
I also find it deeply offensive that BB’s spokespeople seem to be playing the religion card: they just HAPPEN to throw about names of Holtzman contributors who ALL are, or at least sound, Jewish, and then grouse about them being outsiders (or as “one street wonder” would put it, “boys from the north east”), not good Coloradans like us. Don’t insult our intelligence by claiming it’s all a coincidence! Disgusting.
And hey one street, a BB supporter calling Holtzman “soulless”: that’s a good one! BB is Pete Coors Light!
20,000 signatures totally nullified by the statement “I will not allow a small group of 3,000 insiders and benefits of patronage of the system to stand in the way”.Remember, salespeople, how you were always taught that one angry customer represented five people negatively influenced by your product? The math is much worse when you tick off 3000 Republican delegates who ain’t gettin’ a lick of patronage.
Go Marc! After reading in today’s Post about how Beauprez lost the 2002 CD-7 assembly to Rick O’Donnell, but then didn’t do what he now demands of Marc, I find it impossible to support such a shameless hypocrite as Beauprez. It’s outrageous some toady like Bob Martinez would try to subvert the nominating process.
Marc has the enthusiasm, energy, new ideas – and apparently the votes – to win this election. Beauprez is just a tired old dissembler, long in the tooth, and well past his prime.
Heck yeah, keep running Marc! Even after you lose the primary, don’t stop there, keep the race going for all of us.
Uh, sally, I never said pro life was my only issue. I don’t even know how you went so far out on a limb. I was just making fun of ritter trying to appeal to the state’s conservatives. Take a deep breath. It’s ok.
with marc in the race, there are only two things that can happen: beauprez wins the primary and loses the general or marc wins both. in other words, beauprez cannot beat ritter; only marc can. that beauprez refuses to acknowledge his poor chances–although the efforts of martinez and the legislators and legislator wannabes are implicit ackowledgements of those poor chances–is ridiculous.
what is nearly as ridiculous is beauprez’ insistence that he has the backing of the grassroots of the party. how does strongarming a couple thousand delegates through strongarmed elected officials translate to true grassroots support? if you put a gun to someone’s head, they’ll do just about anything. in the end, getting that kind of support is not much of an accomplishment and will turn out to be relatively meaningless. after all, you can strongarm people at an assembly, but it’s much more difficult to strongarm them at the ballot box. collecting 20,000 signatures from willing supporters–in three weeks–after being repeatedly brutalized by the party bosses and told to get out of the race, on the other hand, is an accomplishment and will mean something now and in the future.
beauprez might have some grass in his backyard, but that grass had to be fertilized and refertilized just to get the roots to take, and those roots will likely die soon. marc has a field of grass growing, and it was grown naturally and the roots are deep and spreading. some farmer beauprez will turn out to be.
Beauprez lost to ODonnell, You are right on, but let’s not forget that Tancredo also petitioned on.
If the tide were turned, do any of you really believe that Beauprez would drop out?
What the…how on earth can people be so stupid as to think that the tide is going to turn an Beauprez would drop out? Bob just bitch slapped Holtzman at assembly, has the support of pretty much every republican elected official in the state, and is a fundraising machine. Pass the crack pipe, you all have had too much!
On another note, why were Holtzman’s freaks out trying to collect signatures in Denver at 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday night if they have an extra 10,000 signatures?
Will Marc have enough valid signatures from each Congressional District? The total does not matter if the minimum from each district is not met.
There is no district minimum to be met — he could get them all from CD7 if he wanted to.
There is a minimum for each district. and it is 1500 per district.
Is it just me or does anyone feel a sense of hostility from the Bb people? Can you say WAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH, WWWWWWAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH. I wanted to be governor and Markie won’t let me. Billie and Brucie, make him stop.
Isn’t it ironic? Tancredo petitions on, and its okay. Beauprez petitions on, and its okay. Bruce Benson petitions on and its okay. Hypocricy at its best.
As a delegate, a volunteer, and an unpaid petition circulator for Marc Hopltzman, you BB guys better start focusing on the race and less on Marc Holtzman. That’s your problem, your are focusing too much on the wrong thing.
Joe Girard, once dubbed by the Guiness Book of REcords as the Worlds Greatest Salesman, once said “Everybody knows at least 10 people.” So lets just say that 2300 people at the Assembly and voted for BBB, thats 2330 x 10 = 23,300. Howver, if Holtzman turns in 10500 valid signatures (10,500 x 10 = 105,000). Now if Holtzman turns in 20,000 and 50% support him thats still 100,000. As a worse case scenario. Better yet, if Holtzman turns in 20,000 signatures and 90% are valid, many volunteers went door-to-door using voter vault registration lists (Republican Party lists) and obtained signatures. Then these 18,000 tell 10 of their friends, thats a base of 180,000 possible people for the General Election!!! Word of mouth, or otherwise, for Holtzman.
FYI: The Holtzman campaign is gaining support from Dems and Repubs who do not like either BB or Ritter. Many Dems have offered to change party affiliation prior to the Primary to support Holtzman through both the primary and general.
Ever wonder how Mary Estell Buchanan, Bruce Benson, Bob Beauprez, and Tom Tancredo won? They petitioned and had a solid base to start from. Stop crying and get on with the work at hand, trying to win the election by strong arming and name calling is growing old, very old.
Put a fork in this turkey because he’s done, you know it, I know it, and soon all of Colorado will know it.
P.S.: Who cares if Holtzman has money? Would it be any different if BB were the one with the deep pockets? Doubt it. Time to shut up and start campaigning. Then again, keep it up. Negative publicity is better than none. Maybe that explains why so mnay Republicans signed the Holtzman petitions.
FYI2: The total petitions were approximately split between paid signors, campaign staff, and volunteers. Sounds a little like an organization to me.
Hey 1500. Do you honestly think that Marc Holtzman cannot do the math. Maybe that’s why volunteers car pooled to Pueblo, Grand Junction, and Adams County to gather signatures.
What away to spend 10 to 14 hours, gathering signatures for Holtzman. Pretty easy stuff actually. At least it was for me and those who joined us in the adventure. And to think, we were actually wearing Holtzman T-shirts and people wanted to sign our petitions. some people had their family members sign also!!! Works well when you can get 3 or 4 signatures at one household!!!
I can understand why Holesman won’t drop out, he is clearly shameless and delusional. For him to compare himself to Reagan is laughable.
What I can’t understand is why any thinking Republican who has been supporting him up until now would continue to do so. HE IS NOT GOING TO WIN. He may not be able to see past his ego but the rest of you should. He will continue to snarl and attack and come November will have called BP so many names and caused him to spend so much of his resources, that Ritter will coast in. Please, let Holesman go so that he can go off and rant by himself.
Alan Simpson used to say (quite accurately) that we have two political parties in this country: the Stupid Party and the Hypocrits’ Party. He would then introduce himself as a member of the Stupid Party.
By engaging in such blatant hypocrisy as cticizing Marky Boy for petitioning onto the ballot, B.O.M.B. (Beauprez, Owens, Martinez, and Bensen) are behaving in a dispicable manner…..they’re acting like Democrats!

Interesting, the continued rhetoric from the MH camp on these posts. If you are going to dish it out you better be willing to take it. Fascinating how you like to criticize, but whine when the facts are pointed out. You want your opportunity at free speech but do not like it when others exercise it. What do you not get about MH poisoning the atmosphere – again we are not talking about a primary fight between a liberal and conservative. Give me a break. The spin (lies and innuendos) that have appeared over the last 6 months form the MH camp tell us the quality of Marc. This negative and contentious behavior shows low quality and a lack of integrity
BB is a proven elected leader
BB took a failing $4Million bank and turned it into $400 Million
BB ran a successful dairy farmer
BB is from here not from the East and is not trying to purchase people’s signatures with out of state money.
BB is a successful family man
MH is obviously trying to buy this election and his contradictory claims are hilarious. He wants to say that he is not part of the establishment yet his only claims to fame are running a presidential campaign for Reagan in Pennsylvania (establishment) as executive director. Pennsylvania is where incidentally, Marc lost a run for office. Marc was our first Technology Secretary appointed by Owens (again establishment). Oh and Owens does not support MH. He uses his establishment credentials when convenient and uses his conspiratorial arguments when his small man, small idea buttons are pushed.
Once again let me point out that MH did not give the speech of a lifetime at the convention. It was uninspiring, lacked vision, and had very little substance. He does not have what it takes to run for the governor. This is not his time and he should have got his feet wet in a different run for office.
Our candidate needs to be able to sway the unaffiliated, independents, moderate dems, and other parties to vote for him. I am not saying that is wrong to be willing to fight for what you believe, but Marc is a divisive person who obviously relishes in strife and negativity and will not be able to bring people together. Bob Beauprez was able fight in a positive way and brought people together and yet stuck to his principles. He has done what he said he would do and is the right candidate for the Republican Party’s choice for governor.
I like the passion! but MH is still an unelectable buffoon. No matter how long your diatribe, what it comes down to is a lot of effort and money will be wasted that could be used to defeat Ritter.
hearing he is short in cd1 and cd3 – can’t believe cd3, but stranger things have happened. yesterday the mrs. got hit up at king soopers in cd1. she was asked to sign up, she asked what it was for, was told it was for mh, she declined – then she said they gave her the evil eye. nasty bunch of buggers
So do these signatures actually exist or do they exist in Marc’s mind like all of our supposed support for him did?
Or maybe they exist in the same way that those pictures of Marc standing next to Ronald Reagan are “real.”
It should be noted that Beauprez never petitioned on to anything.
He came in second at the assembly to Rick O’Donnell by a vote of 51-41% at the assembly. A far cry from the 72-28%.
Padre,
You wrote “20,000 signatures totally nullified by the statement “I will not allow a small group of 3,000 insiders and benefits of patronage of the system to stand in the way”.Remember, salespeople, how you were always taught that one angry customer represented five people negatively influenced by your product? BB recieved the support of around 2300 delegates. 2300 x 5=11,500. Last time I checked 20,000 is more than 11,500.
Perhaps if Marc gets on the ballot and knocks BB out of the water in Nov, some of you will finally realize what went on Sat.
Nice little article today in the Aspen Daily News:
http://www.aspendailynews.com/article_14246
Posted by somebody – Its too bad you have trouble reading through these posts. Myself, my wife, several of our friends and people who we sat with were first time delegates so not insiders – stop your lying – it makes us Republicans look foolish to everyone else. All the aforementioned declared their vote for Beauprez. Some making up their mind that day or the previous day when they had a chance to talk to MH and BB.
It’s not cool that you exagerate to make a point – 2340 voted for Beauprez and only 902 voted for MH – get your facts straight. Maybe you need to re-examine you truth because people like you keep proving my point of why MH is dangerous – he supports lying and has convinced many of you to do it too!!!
Again Holtzman’s original claim to fame is that he is part of the establishment!!! – read some of my other posts for some facts on this. Doing the Clinton thing and repeating lies (that now MH is somehow an outsider or not part of an establihment – the TRUTH is that he has run Republican campaigns, run for office and lost and been appointed to a position in this state by the Republican “establishment” – been a precinct chairperson etc.). That people will believe he is an outsider just brings up the addage of, “fool me once shame on you and fool me twice shame on me!”
Get the facts right – when his appeal to his establishment (Republican Party officials and elected officials) failed somehow he convinced an upset minority that he is an outsider – what a joke! Look at the shame on you point!
A man who encourages deceit and lies like MH should not be supported.
It will be interesting to see if he gets his 20K today or was that another lie!
Sorry Scott. Who is dishing it out and not taking it. Wasn’t it BB who first voted with GW and the War in Iraq, then didn’t vote when the Repubs put up their Immediate Withdrawal Bill? Wasn’t it BB who did not vote to grant a Gold Medal to the Tuskegee Airmen? Wasn’t it BB who voted to expand the acceptance of Consular Metricula Cards in the U.S.? Wasn’t it Bb who voted to expand the number of H1B visas? Wasn’t it Bb who could have voted for approximately 1032 bills dutring the 108th Congress and only voted 348 times? Waasn’t it BB who of those 348 votes, voted NO a whopping 7%, and YES 93% of the time? Wasn’t it Bb who voted against Tom Tancredo’s Illigal Immigration Amendment? Wasn’t it Bb who was sued for $700,000 in association with his golf course? Wasn’t it BB who swindled a board member out of her shares in the bank, then was sued for $1, million and settled out of court?
Thus stuff is getting tiring!! I can’t write anymore, carpul tunnel syndrome.
And this is just the beginning. Who submitted only 16 bills during the 108th Congress? Bb. Who had the Dems co-sponsor more legislation than the Republican delegation? BB. Who is BB’s favorite Republican? John Salazar. Afterall, Salazar co-sponsored more bills for Beauprez than any other elected official in Colorado’s congressional delegation.
Now there’s a real conservative for you.
This man would be toast if put up against Ritter. Ritter would dress down this cronie so fast it wouldn’t even be pretty. Then what? Whom do you blame next. Dick Liggett?
You folks are tiring, just like the establishment that is supporting him. No new ideas. Just “Business As Usual.”
Again, several weeks ago I asked “How many jobs did Bob Beauprez bring to Colorado?” To date, no one from the Beauprez Camp has responded in kind.
Oh, but I was a farm boy. I owned a bank. I have endorsements, wanna see? Give it a rest.
Hey Scott. the Doctor just phoned, said that if you stay on your meds and stick with the therapy you will be good as new in due time.
Wanna see something funny? Go to any Beauprez supporter and start talking about Vietnam. Seems they were unaware that BB never served. Guess that was one of those little slip of the tongue things. Boy do they look silly.
Mr Handy – Too bad you reveal yourself as a coward by your personnel attacks behind a fake name. Even though you are bitter, I hope when BB beats MH in August (assuming MH files today and those paid for signatures are legit) You will still vote for Beauprez in November.
And I will answer you hypothical retort: Bob will win in August which will make it moot.
Cheers,
Scott
Scott, leave it alone man. You are outta your league.
PS. I call shenanigans on you being anything other than a paid and card carrying BB staffer. We will find out.
Wow, where did this Scott McKenzie come from? Keep it up buddy, the more you piss off the Holtzman cronies, the more they move away from Both Ways Bob.
Don’t let them belittle you Soctt. The Conservatives v. Republicans is exactly what this state needs right now.
How long will it take the Secretary of State to determine if the signatures are valid?
Interesting that MH actually needs a Dem to help him gather his 21K signatures! There are some good comments on this blogge’s site about that Dem: Mount Virtus http://bendegrow.com/
Hey Scott, why don’t you answer MrHandy’s questions? Guess the guy is right. All you BB folks seem to want to do is avoid answering any direct questions.
How many jobs did Bb bring to Colorado? Where’s the guys medical records, and college transcripts?
Just more of the same. Let’s all pretend this guy can win.
Flawed strategy at best.
FYI, the Dem wasn’t used to gain the signatures. He is an attorney who will be helping MH when the BB camp starts contesting signatures. Get you act together. Read the story a little closer and don’t read into it waht you think should be there and not what is.
Marc Holtzman recently stated, “People vote for issues and ideas. They don’t vote for strategy and tactics.” This respect for Colorado voters will put Marc over the top in the August Primary!
Both Ways Bob Beauprez seems to think he can get votes by merely getting photo ops hugging Claudia or talking about his marriage of 35 years. Now Beauprez has placed a photo of him and Claudia at the high school prom in 1967 on his Web site for Governor.
I find this political tactic to be disrespectful of voters. We could care less about his personal life and whether or not he calls Claudia “Mommy” — a term of endearment that I think is somewhat perverted and odd.
Voters want to know about the issues, where the candidates stand, and their answers to the problems facing Colorado. Marc Holtzman is the candidate doing this –not the “Mommy” dearest candidate Beauprez.
If anyone would like to email Scot McKenzie direct his email is scotm@directhitmarketing.com.
Address is 401 East St D-4
Boulder
Where’s Scot McKenzie? Could it be that he’s not at work this weekend so he can’t post?
funny how these folks get outed.
Marc is going to win the primary. I’m certain of it. Beauprez will be crying all the way to the farm people.
Patrick
