2. Promises, promises! 

   An angry Republican bigot just promised me that they are leaving Colorado!

   How do I know?  I just received an anonymous, hate-filled letter through the USPS in response to a letter to the editor I wrote that was recently published by the Denver Post.

   The anonymous letter writer is really pissed that we have a gay Governor with kids and a partner in a long-term, committed relationship.  At least he didn't seem to care that Jared Polis is Jewish (although probably just an oversight on their part).

   The letter writer goes on to complain that Polis' policies will result in a massive influx of minority kids from California that will grow up to be "Demos".  Since the letter writer was convinced this is going to be funded at the expense of Republicans, they promised they were going to bug out of Colorado.  

   Just thought I'd pass this along to brighten everyone's day knowing that Colorado is a little bit brighter and kinder with every bigot that chooses to take their hate somewhere else

   1. Thanks for the thought, but there were no threats, either to the Governor, his family or me in the letter.  They just needed to release some of their pent-up bile, and raise my hopes they weren't just foolin' about leaving Colorado

4. One-time Republican Jennifer Rubin continues to advise Republicans:

   Republicans dismayed with the direction of the party should look at states where the GOP lost House seats and have a Senate race in 2020 (e.g., Iowa and Texas). It is in these states that they can fight Trump loyalists for the direction of their party. Much attention has been focused on mounting a primary (or third-party challenge) against Trump, but equally if not more important is to challenge those Senate Republicans who have become Trump enablers, refused to do rudimentary oversight, piled on as Trump has savaged democratic norms and values, and chosen to defend Trump’s policy objectives (e.g., tariffs) over the economic and other interests of their home-state constituents.

   Who can step up for Colorado Republicans and primary Cory Gardner?

   1. The only possibility that comes to mind would be John Suthers.  Otherwise, as far as I know, the well is completely poisoned with Trump-brand Kool-Aid.

      1. Yeah, Suthers is probably the best that the Colorado GOP has to offer. But I don't think he would do it. What about that state rep who took on Ray Scott last year?

   2. Will be very interesting to see what the Colorado GOP does between now and the 2020 races. There's a good chance they'll just continue to double down on Trumpism – unless there's a major crash at the Trump level of Trumpism (i.e. Mueller time).

7. First poll on Trump after the mid-terms — looks like a landslide in 2020, with Trump buried underneath

   As speculation for 2020 begins to heat up, a little more than 3 in 10 Americans want to see President Donald Trump win a second term in the White House, according to a new poll.

   A Monmouth University poll out Wednesday found that though the president’s approval rating stands fairly steady at 43 percent, only 37 percent of registered voters want to see him reelected, compared to 58 percent of voters who want someone new in the Oval Office come January 2021.
