Colorado Tea Parties Make National News: Dislike McInnis.

(This is a fascinating post – promoted by Colorado Pols)

Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the past month or so, you’ve undoubtedly heard about the “Platform for Prosperity” and understand the dynamics that led to its construction. Conservatives were weary of Scott McInnis and the notion that he’s a squish bag moderate parading as a true conservative long enough to fool the activists until he is elected. Let’s be honest for those that supported Josh Penry’s bid for governor, this platform as well as the reality of the Republican nominee for Governor in 2010, is a little hard to swallow. No wonder the 9/12 groups and Tea Parties are up in arms about this recent development. But just how mad are they? The Wall Street Journal Reports,

“To the consternation of Republican leaders, tea-party activists are jumping into primaries for U.S. Senate and other races, promoting their own candidates to challenge Republican front-runners in Kentucky, Florida, Illinois, California and elsewhere.”

What I don’t understand is all the flack that Jane Norton is getting due to Scott Mcinnis’ strong-arm move. Norton and McInnis should not be viewed as the same. Jane is a true conservative and is BY FAR the better choice for the 9/12 groups and Tea Parties than Tom “I have a bankruptcy and steal from charities http://coloradopols.com/showDi… Wiens or Ken “I’m quitting the race, wait I’m still in the race” Buck. Norton is the favorite to win this seat; and if the Tea Parties and 9/12 groups truly want their values represented in the Senate, they should support Norton.

Ok! 9/12 groups and Tea Parties, we hear you! You don’t want another John McCain RINO that’s not going to embody any of your values, but it seems YOU WANT TO LOSE ANOTHER ELECTION! Yes I said it; your actions are a recipe for disaster. If you want to win back the Senate seat and have someone who embodies what it means to be a Conservative, you’re going to have to stop acting like children.

  1. So was Norton being a TRUE CONSERVATIVETM when (to her credit) she supported Referendum C? Would she support any changes or temporary reprieves from TABOR again in the future?

If so, then wouldn’t the Tea Party Party be better served running its own candidate? Just a thought.

    1. Your wholesale embrace of the citizen’s vote on ref C/D shows that even you support this citizen’s core right for you to ask before you take.

I’m sure Lt Guv Norton supports our TABOR rights – both to ask for tax hikes and vote for tax hikes.

When you big government money grabbers and job destroyers get a measure to present to the voters we’ll all have something to talk about.

But today this years state spend will be at or below next years state spend.  Have you heard we are in a recession?

      1. And all of you wean-the-state, tax-cutting, Jon Caldera acolytes were just rearing to go on Ref C. Libertad, don’t you think that given the state’s budget crisis that we could use another 5-year break from TABOR?

Yeah, that position isn’t going to hurt Norton with the Tea Party Tax Day Protester Party whatsoever.

        1. For the last decade you’ve been crying “poor government”, yet the spending increases year over year.  [include the local governments too bonehead as you we pay 55-60% of our $19 billion state and local tax nut to them]

Now back to your ballot proposal.  Get on with some details, because most of us residents [the average Joe] haven’t had the year over year 6% spending growth that you propose we excelerate down at biggovernment.com

          1. Hmmm,

allow slavery and count the slaves as 3/5.

            Grow hemp.

Not give women or slaves or other indentured citizens the vote.

Attempt to create a central bank.

            and more

                    1. Culture of Corruption: Obama and His Team of Tax Cheats, Crooks, and Cronies is a book written by conservative author Michelle Malkin.[1] The book claims that the Barack Obama administration has had dozens of instances of corruption.[2] The title is a reference to “culture of corruption”, a political slogan used by Democrats to refer to events that happened during the presidency of George W. Bush.

The book spent six weeks at #1 on the hardcover non-fiction section of the New York Times Best Seller list.[3]

                    2. Although I can’t speak for everyone, I can speak for myself.  I think Michelle Malkin is an asshole.

That opinion has nothing to do with my state of mind.

  2. Representative McInnis – can you please answer the following questions. It appears that the tea partiers would also like these questions answered.

Of course, they’re hoping for different answers than I am. And therein lies a conundrum for you. But if you are Governor material, then stepping up and giving us clear answers should not be an issue.

Because I think across the political spectrum we can all agree, we don’t want a Governor who does not know what he’s going to do.

  3. The assumption that Republicans will sweep back into power and restore Reaganomics to it’s full glory is teh-heh funny.

You’ve got to love the bombast of Hollywood.  He is already counting his chickens.

  4. Just what is a TRUE CONSERVATIVE these days?

Is it the Baggers whose main issue seems to be a hatred for “big government” taking over everything? So if they want to cut back on government activism, then are they for gay marriage (because why should the government be involved in who can and can not get married? Doesn’t say a thing about this in the U.S. Constitution. Barry Goldwater knew that)

And wouldn’t a TRUE CONSERVATIVE support a woman’s right to choose and recognize that’s a decision to be made between a woman, her Creator, and her doctor, without government interference?

And wouldn’t a TRUE CONSERVATIVE insist on separation of church and state so parochial religious influences would not be co-mingled with the affairs of government?

And wouldn’t a TRUE CONSERVATIVE recognize the limits of government in “social engineering” in the failed War On Drugs (just as alcohol prohibition was a total failure)

And wouldn’t a TRUE CONSERVATIVE want a non-interventionist foreign policy based on the criteria of protecting the vital national security interests of the United States instead of the crushing burden of a far flung empire?

I had a little too much tea this morning. I just can’t figure out what is a TRUE CONSERVATIVE anymore.

  5. I appreciate our hosts’ courtesies in calling this post “fascinating,” but I find it befuddling.  Is the upshot:  “Vote for Jane Nortion cuz she’s no Scott McInnis!”

If so, that seems like an odd mantra for a conservative poster who seems to dislike the notion of losing another election.

And I don’t even wanna know what in hell is a 9/12 group.  I assume it’s 3 times worse than a 3/4 group…or is it the same?

  6. I think Jane Norton got flack over her own strong-arm move.

Or are we pretending that the entire month of September never happened? Or that Norton’s enthusiastic “John McCain RINO” endorsement never happened? Or that Jane voted for Ref. C? Or that the NRSC didn’t intervene on her behalf?

Yeeesh, you guys are in for a surprise if you think the teabaggers have forgotten all that already. Nifty tactic though, try to burn down your gubernatorial candidate to save your own ass. I’m sure Bill Ritter thinks it’s great that not only is Maes attacking McInnis but now Norton’s staff is joining in.
