On Friday, Donald Trump abandoned the last pretense that his administration isn’t deliberately trying to hurt people and break our institutions. Trump’s unilateral decision to cut off billions of dollars in cost-sharing subsidies is nothing less than a deliberate attempt to destabilize the health insurance market and threaten the health coverage of millions of Americans.
It is absolutely unthinkable that an American President would intentionally take action to hurt Americans in order to force political concessions from his opponents. This is not how responsible leaders act. This is not the kind of society the current generation of Americans inherited from our parents. And it’s not a responsible legacy to leave for our children.
Already, some Republicans are asking Trump to back away from this threat. Sen. Susan Collins of Maine is calling on Trump to fund the cost-sharing subsidies, and find a solution to this dispute without hurting ordinary Americans. Action item #1 this week: Call Sen. Cory Gardner at 202-224-5941 and Sen. Michael Bennet at 202-224-5852, and urge them both to fight back with her.
Introducing the Progressive Jobs Board. Since the last election, a new wave of activism in America to fight back against Donald Trump and the far right has rapidly taken shape. The crisis of Trump’s presidency has mobilized Americans to get involved in the political system like nothing this nation has seen in at least 15 years, and probably much longer.
That means there’s a lot of important work to be done.
Last week, we started listing some of the many job openings at nonprofit organizations, advocacy groups, and progressive political campaigns that are opening up as the 2018 election season gets closer on our website. The response to our initial request for job listings from friends and allies was tremendous. Take a look at our Progressive Jobs Board today, and forward this message to friends and family who have the passion and/or the experience to join the movement full time.
Thanks for everything you do week in and week out to fight back. Here are even more ways to take action for the week of October 16th:

For years Colorado has been a model for progressive organizing, but the last year has witnessed a new surge of activism and grassroots power that will make a difference long after Trump is a footnote in history.
Thanks again for everything you do, and we’ll be back in touch soon.
