Republican Vice Presidential nominee Mike Pence will make a few campaign stops in Colorado on Wednesday, the same day that Democratic Presidential nominee Hillary Clinton will be in the state along with running mate Tim Kaine. If a Pence event in Nevada today is any indication of what awaits the Indiana Governor in Colorado, tomorrow is going to be a loonnggg day. From CNN:
At a Trump campaign event in Carson City, Nevada, featuring VP nominee Mike Pence, the mother of an Air Force servicemember was loudly booed when she asked a question that was critical of Donald Trump and his comments about the family of a slain Muslim U.S. soldier.
Pressing Pence on Trump’s controversial feud with the Khan family, the mother asked Monday:
“My name is Catherine and I’m a military mom. My son is currently serving in the U.S. air force…Time and time again, Trump has disrespected our nation’s armed forces and veterans, and his disrespect for Mr. Khan and his family is just an example of that. Will there ever be a point in time when you’re able to look at Trump in the eye, and tell him enough is enough?”
As the critical nature of her question became clear, the crowd began to react audibly, booing and shouting as Pence tried to respond. “It’s ok, it’s ok,” he said to the crowd.
The mother continued, “You have a son in the military, how do you tolerate his disrespect?”
Pence can probably expect to get similar questions on Wednesday in Colorado — particularly in the military-heavy town of Colorado Springs — and it will be interesting to see if he has a better answer than what he gave in Nevada. Pence responded to the question on Tuesday by saying of Trump: “I have never been around someone more devoted to the armed forces of this country.”
Um, yeah. Have fun with that one.
